Lo Chalet — Restaurant in Alagna Valsesia

I dislike intensely giving bad reviews, but honestly is paramount. Some people may well love it here, some obviously do: I didn't. Shame as its in a beautiful location. Having ordered beer 🍺 and been shown to a table outside the far end of the restaurant, I was saddened to be sat under a speaker listening to ghastly music. It wouldn't have mattered if it'd been music I liked, I'd still rather have listened to the river. I was the only person in that area. The waitress offered to turn it down, then didn't. I requested another beer, waited and waited, then was brought the wrong one. By now I was past caring. I wasn't even bothered when another waitress began trying to chivvy me along, I merely went to pay then left. Left, having paid the most arrogant antisocial barman ever. He couldn't have treated me with more contempt, which was odd as it was the first time I'd seen him! If you like loud music then this is probably your sort of place. Service is extremely slow and not particularly friendly. We were with our 4 years old kid and they constantly brought our food before his. Doesn't make sense. Some of their food is overpriced (the "aubergine flan" is tiny and costs 12€). They clearly advertise "Pizzeria" on their road sign (Cf picture) but they only serve it for dinner. Too bad, we came there for lunch. Would be great to be clear about this in their advertising. Food is very average and does not justify the time we waited. It was so slow that we eventually decided to skip dessert. I would strongly recommend to choose another restaurant...

We ended up in this restaurant quite by accident, as we missed the Staffal ski lift and had to stay in the Alagna valley. We believe that life is not by chance. We managed to find the wonderful hotel to spend the night where the receptionist suggested us this great restaurant. Very friendly place, a good owner, delicious food. We were treated as close friends. Will definitely come here again if the opportunity arises. I don’t remember the name of the owner, but I would like to say a big thank you! And please pass on a huge gratitude to your friends who gave us a ride out to the hotel...
