Ristorante La Chaumière — Restaurant in Aosta

Possibly we had too high expectations given tge reviews. Food was good but nothing spectacular. It could have been a bad day but the lady that served us was rolling her eyes all the time we told her to give us some more until we decide what to eat. They bring the meat to your table on a hot plate and leave it being cooked even though we asked for it being medium rare it was served rare. When asked, the waiter did not seem bothered and he just left. Perhaps we were there on a day when things were not going the right way for them but certainly not a memorable experience, especially compared to the other restaurants we went to...

Antipasto, lardo di Arnad e mocetta accompagnato da fetta di pane con miele. Lardo, pane e miele ottimi. Mocetta non memorabile. Accompagnato da castagne altrettanto non memorabili. Secondo, filetto con salsa di roquefort. Ho sbagliato io a non chiedere salsa a parte ottenendo il filetto ricoperto da quest'ultima. Buona ma, ovviamente, non potendolo dosare con la carne, ne ha compromesso, sovrastandola, il sapore. Richiesta e ottenuta cottura al sangue (risultato mai scontato) con relativo feedback positivo. Purtroppo sigillatura della carne eccessiva con percepibile sovracottura e lieve "bruciacchiatura" mal celata dalla buona ma invadente salsina. Contorno di verdure miste e patate al forno. Il tutto decisamente non memorabile. Accompagnamento con Morellino e pane a tavola di buona qualità (anche questo non scontato). Terminato con amaro e straordinaria panna cotta. Il tutto spendendo circa 58 euro. Sintesi: riprenderei decisamente il lardo e la panna cotta chiedendo di poter imparare il segreto della preparazione di quest'ultima .
