Eating at this restaurant was the highlight of our trip to Italy! We were staying near by in town, and were recommended this place - we had no idea it would be the best food of our entire trip (including Florence, Arezzo, Siena, Rome, etc!) in just four days, we came back three times!
We were blown away by the Cacio e Pepe - truly incredible handmade pasta and sauce! Family recipe. The pecorino and potato puffed pastry to start was amazing!!! The spaghetti with pistachio pesto also delicious! I recommend splitting as many dishes with your party as possible to taste all of the wonderful flavor combinations. We were told this place was a casual and simple restaurant, but the presentation of the dishes was anything but simple - truly elegant and sophisticated! And yet very affordable!! It seemed like a fine dining experience with a casual hometown feel.
We tried bistecca di florentina in Arezzo but theirs here was MUCH better. The best steak our entire party has ever had. Tender and seasoned just perfectly. We also loved the pork tenderloin.
Then there’s the pizza! Oh my goodness!! The most heavenly sauce and crust. Magnificent. We got the spicy salami the first night and sausage the second. Both delicious.
And of course we must mention dessert! This was a whole new class of its own! The chocolate tortina was to die for!! We came back for it after visiting Florence - we needed it as a night cap! Was better than Rivoire chocolate in Florence! We also had the cheesecake, the tiramisu, and this amazing puff pastry with custard and fruit that was delicious.
We loved the service we received. Our amazing waitress - who we learned has worked at the restaurant her whole life (it was founded by her parents!) - was so sweet and accommodating even though we knew very little Italian and she knew very little English. She was so kind and excellent, we had to take a picture with her on our third visit!
This is a hidden gem!! We are so so...
