Appreciate the wine here, good portions for tasting. Nice food, the hosts are also nice people. However our visit was overall unpleasant, I hope the review serves as constructive feedback and a flag to other visitors re what we experienced. Two issues - first the olive oil tour Second - the transport organised The olive oil tour was only 10 euro extra, however not worth it, even if it was free it wasn’t worth it. Due to hot weather (I think), we started off in a room watching a 40 minute video on olive oil and left to ourselves. It was on YouTube; something we could watch at home and it just wasn’t a good start, was super boring and not a genuine experience to come all this way and watch tractors/people talking on a video about olives. We were, at the end, offered the promised olive farm tour however this was looking at three different trees, took about five minutes all up so not worth it. All in all, I can’t understand paying money for a tour to then be thrown in front of a YouTube video for the majority of the time, very painful. We would have rather they cancelled if it was solely due to hot weather, still not sure if this is standard practice. Secondly - we really appreciate they organised us transport from Assisi train station; we thought this was the best approach rather than worrying about finding a taxi as we don’t speak Italian. However we had a return trip from the train station (ten min journey) it was 50 euro return! We should have done our research before on this so this is more a heads up to others that if you don’t have a car, expect for it to be a very expensive trip up the road. I’m assuming we were ripped off here as both the winery and taxi driver were vague about the price when asked before. If you have own transport, and are just going for the wine tasting - I would recommend. Avoid the olive oil tour and the organised...
Read moreAbsolutely adored this winery! I booked a tour through a third party site and although I was up-charged for not being with a partner-I understand logistically and economically but still feels weird to be penalized for being solo. Anyways, I took the train from Rome to Assissi and the daughter of the family who runs the winery, her car broke down, so we had to be flexible! So I explored Assissi before versus after the tour and went to the tour at 2 instead of 10:30! The atmosphere was very welcoming and everyone was so sweet! Especially the German Shepard named Loki lol. The wine tastings were great and I read on a review that it was a lot of alcohol so I made sure to take it easier and although I think it could have been very insulting to the winery for someone not to finish each tasting, I think they were very understanding in that I didn’t want to lose my composure as a woman traveling alone! I am gluten free and they were also able to accommodate that which I wasn’t expecting as I brought my own bread lol, I did see the couple next to me receive slightly different plates than mine but wasn’t for sure if they booked a different experience (they received cold cuts and I didn’t for example). The tour ended up feeling a tad bit rushed but I believe that if we didn’t have to reorganize it would have been the perfect pace! They were able to drop me off at bus stop directly as a trade off from pushing the tour back. I bought a bottle of balsamic vinegar and when I tell you I’m obsessed!! I’m putting it on everything! 1000% was my favorite tasting/product of this company! Also the sister was so nice and the person I had the most interaction with. Very inclusive and a thirst for expanding knowledge and connections which always makes for a better conversation! I would visit again in...
Read more20+ years ago I had the great fortune of drinking a bottle of Tilli Sacreterre At a Enoteca in Spello. I bought a case and finished it in less than two years.
It’s extremely hard to find in the United States because of distribution issues. But recently, I had the good fortune along with seven of my friends to visit Anna Laura’s winery. It was fantastic just like her wine.
We had an incredible tour of their wine producing Facilities. Anna Laura is so incredibly experienced about producing And is gifted Good stories so that the whole process comes to life.
Then we enjoyed a two hour lunch on the terrace looking out over the valley and Most of what was available at that moment.
The chef was Anna Laura’s mom Maria knows her way around the kitchen. It was a sublime experience like Italian food can always be.
I am happy and sad to be sharing this experience. Happy because I love their wines and I’d like more people to become familiar with them. Unhappy because you will all know about it and I will be competing for their wine...
