Ristorante La Stalla — Restaurant in Assisi

BE AWARE - TOTALLY MISREPRESENTED - THIS IS NOT WHAT IS SHOWN ON THE LISTING - THE INSIDE RESTAURANT WITH THE BIG BARBECUE FACILITY IS NO LONGER IN OPERATION. This was a huge disappointment - had been hanging out to see this place, only to get here and see the restaurant proper no longer in use. No point going here unless you are staying at the campground. This is just an open air dining facility for the campground. No table service, take a ticket, order food, collect yourself - sort of cafeteria style, but outdoors. Food is average, but not great, but reasonably priced. However taxi there and back from Minerva Hotel, cost €50. - add that to the price and it was not even good value for money. Funny thing also was that I contacted the restaurant for a reservation - at no time were we told of the change to what is shown on the Google listing - and I was told no reservations, but there were reserved tables when we arrived. Had a really terrible experience here unfortunately. We were served by an unkind young lad who acted like he was mute or angry with the whole world. No smile, no interest in us, not even the slightest gesture that we are welcome. But it was really hot, far to any other restaurant and the kids were hungry. So we stayed. And guess what, there was a fly in my wife's dish. Yes, it sounds like a bad joke, and it felt like one. The uncouth waiter's reaction was the icing on the cake tough: he just grabbed the plate without a word, turned his back on me and walked away as if nothing happened. We were given a (hopefully) newly prepared dish. Food was quite good actually, but bad service ruined the taste. The waiter had the cheek to charge us for 6 coperti even though we were with 3 small kids who didn't even get their plates. Shame...

We ordered two dishes with potatoes – grilled chicken and pork ribs (listed on the menu as “kebab”). The chicken was acceptable, though rather bland in taste – more a matter of preference.

The ribs, however, were a big disappointment: underseasoned, grilled too quickly so they were tough, and clearly not marinated. They hardly came off the bone and were nearly impossible to eat with cutlery.

The service made the experience worse. The staff showed no smile, no interest, and essentially ignored us. The low point came when we tried to pay – the waiter passed me at least five times without acknowledging me, leaving both me and another guest nearby exchanging looks of...
