We had booked a lunch and wine tasting for 4 people. What we received was so much more than that – it was a family welcoming with excellent service and food. First the service and wine tasting aspect. The woman guiding us gave such personality to her descriptions as she went. She was always referring to what Mama liked and wanted and didn’t like and want. It gave great personality to the descriptions. She was also very knowledgeable about the wines and how they compared to other wines of the world. We expect that an upscale winery, what was not expected was how good the quality of the food was for a lunch. Each wine brought a new course and with each one our foursome was even more impressed. The chef here could go it alone as a restaurant even without the wine sampling. Then, as we were waiting our final course and wine, who should show up at the table to great us but Mama herself. A charming woman who also knows her wine. We were the last table to empty from the lunch offering and went through the building to our car. Sitting there as we left was the entire team sitting down for a glass of wine and a lunch for themselves. What a...
Read moreWe highly recommend this experience! We actually walked from the Assisi train station -apx 1.5hrs walk and I was hesitant, but honestly there was a bike path the whole way so smooth ground and then you head up the hillside to get to the vineyard and it was extremely do-able. The last trek up the hill in the heat was a bit of a challenge but it was only about 20mins of the walk. TOTALLY WORTH IT. We arrived early and they were ready to accommodate us right away but we asked if we could wait a little to sit and rest and cool down and they were accommodating of that as well. When we actually began, it was a great tour of where and how they make the wines, olive oil, and vinegar and we learned a lot. We were able to take pictures and our guide, Giulia was so knowledgeable and kind. She also spoke English for us which was great! Then the tasting portion - WOW we loved every bite and sip. If you've seen Ratatouille where he tries to show his brother how taste pairings go - it...
Read moreI booked an open air wine tasting experience but it wasn’t open air wine tasting as advertised. When I reached the location specified, it was empty with a sign to go to another place a 5 minute drive away. I drove to that place, it seemed like someone’s house. No directions of what to do at that property. There was another couple in the parking lot before me. I talked to them & they were wondering what to do & we’re apprehensive of knocking on the door of someone’s house. Anyhow, I knocked on the door & went in. They were having wine tasting in there. It was not open air though. I was seated, the hostess was nice & knowledgeable. Not impressed with the wines. All of them are blends with a high alcohol %. The winery has a long history of making communion wine. Do your own research...
