Il Cavallo Scosso — Restaurant in Asti

My wife and I dined at Il Cavallo Scosso last night, trying the five-course "Cavallo Scosso" set menu with wine pairing. Although we were the only guests, which we thought would allow for extra attention, we were left quite disappointed.

The courses were bland, lacking taste and seasoning—none stood out or sparked any excitement. I even had to send back a dish of mussels, as they didn’t feel fresh and the cod felt defrost. The replacement pasta was simple but satisfying, as it was the only dish that truly had flavor.

The wine pairing was also underwhelming, with average wines that didn’t seem tailored to the dishes.

Siamo venuti in 2 sabato 15 giugno, posto stupendo da stellato il personale ci ha fatto accomodare in veranda veramente bella il che mi ha stupito che non avesse nessuna stella ma adesso vi spiego perché! Tutto perfetto il servizio ma arriviamo al succo! Ci hanno portato degli stuzzichini prima degli antipasti niente da dire buonissimi e bel eseguiti! Passiamo all'antipasti! Io ho preso il bau con acciughe e burro montato buonissimo e il mio ospite tartare di baccalà... Sarebbe meglio specificare che era crudo perché purtroppo non lo hanno specificato e lo ha mangiato con fatica però va bene ci sta colpa nostra che non lo abbiamo detto! Il primo abbiamo scelto il risotto mantecato al Castelmagno, animelle e gel alla cipolla tanti difetti tra cui: era indietro di cottura mancava sale e la cipolla non si sentiva le animelle buone ma insipide fatto presente al personale di sala ma va bene lo mangiato comunque perché preferivo non offendere e mandarlo indietro però lo detto che non mi piaceva l'idea c'è ma esecuzione sbagliata. Il secondo abbiamo preso le alecce fritte con chutney di mango e giardiniera di verdure e coniglio alla finanziera ligure. Le a Lecce erano buone ma non straordinarie mentre la finanziera di coniglio bocciata non era una finanziera perché c'era solo un 5 quarto cioè il fegato. Sarebbe meglio dire la nostra finanziera perché la finanziera è tutta in altra cosa e le alecce direi più che sia un antipasto che un secondo però va bene così scelta dello chef. Il dolce ho preso il 3 cioccolati non si sentiva molto gli altri due perché la glassa andava a ricoprire sovrastante gli altri due peccato per la cena l'unica cosa gli antipasti era buoni e il resto credo che lo chef debba stare un po' dietro alla brigata se era presente ero bel felice di dirglielo di persona questa cosa però va bene spero che migliorino perché ci vorrei tornare. Il conto un po' salato 229 euro c'era anche il vino buono niente da dire freisa 2019. I booked this restaurant based on it's good reviews last minute to celebrate my partner's birthday while we were staying in Asti. I'm so glad I did! It was without a doubt the best meal we had in Piedmont. From outside the restaurant looks odd, like a residential house, it also has a secure entry system which made it even stranger when we arrived. However, inside is very stylish and relaxed. We loved the decor. We chose the tasting menu and were extremely impressed with the quality, taste and presentation of the food.
