What a delightful dinner we had at Capriccio! We were on holiday in Ortigia where good restaurants were closed for winter; based on the Guide Michelin, we jumped on a train to Augusta and Capriccio. It was 5 of us, including our 3 young adult children, on the occasion of our daughter's 18th birthday. We all had the Tentazioni tasting menu and everything was somewhere between excellent and outstanding, including a very original, subtle, lightly sweet almond-based dessert, which reminded me of desserts I had in Japan. One of us had dietary restrictions that we had communicated upon booking and were taken care of in a very smart, barely perceptible way. In an extensive wine list, we chose a Grillo from Pantelleria, which was superb. Their website was very easy to use to set the reservations and we chose their first of the day. While we had the whole restaurant to ourselves, the service was still impeccable and the attention to detail was amazing.
There was a happy little surprise at the end with the dessert as we were celebrating our honeymoon. The woman who took care of us spoke English as well and took care to explain everything and answer our questions. It truly was a delightful experience and one we will not soon forget.
