We had a long dinner. An Italian long dinner. a really long dinner. Everyone had a Primi and Secondi. We didn’t order an Antipasti or Dessert, but for some reason we were there for nearly 2.5 hrs. Complaints? No. More wine? Yes. Le Masiere’s wine list is extensive drawing entirely from the local wineries in this Friuli Venezia-Giulia region. I saw Bessich, Castelvecchio, and other wineries offerings. We stuck with the house wine seeing as it was 9 euros per liter. When explaining the menu, the waitress was helpful with explaining the dishes on the menu since it was all in Italian. We had a child with severe nut allergies and she took care that everything we ordered was free of nuts. She really was very helpful. Food was fantastic! I started with the Risottino, a perfectly put together dish of risotto. It had small chunks of Grana Padano about the size of the grains of rice hidden in the dish. When you hit one of those chunks of cheese, it’s such a rich taste that hits your mouth that will only result in a smile every time. I finished with Veal Medallions wrapped in prosciutto from San Daniele with a generous serving of green peppercorn sauce drizzled on top. It came with a side of spinach that hinted with the drippings from the veal or prosciutto. A strong finish to the meal. Rich, luxurious, indulgent food at Le Masiere.

First off, I have never had a Nagroni that I liked. So why keep trying? I don't know... hopes and dreams, I guess. Anyway, finally found a place that makes a great Negroni: Le Mesiere. Not to say "just come for the Negronis", because I also are food. We go a cheese sampler and it's a great deal. If I had to eat it by myself, I definitely would have had leftovers. For 1st dish, I got the pasta with white rabbit sauce. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the rabbit was tender and seasoned just right, while that wmsauce was smooth and creamy. Fir 2nd dish I got the fowl. Tender and cooked to perfection. The accompanying potatoes and asparagus was pretty phenomenal too.

On another work trip. I had been to this restaurant once before, a few years ago, but only remembered that it was a positive experience. Came here with reasonably high expectations and they were met! I enjoyed the Pork Medallions with a Cream Peppercorn Sauce along with Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus. The pork was great but the asparagus was exceptional! Service was prompt, warm and professional. Location and facilities were above board for the area.

Some of the poorest service I've ever received!! Wait staff isn't what it was with the old owners. When we entered no one acknowledged our presence and we had a reservation. We where seated and the waiter basically threw the menu on the table on top of my silverware. We ordered 2 glasses of prosecco and a 1/2 of liter of red wine there where wine glasses on the table instead of bringing flute glasses for the prosecco they poured it in the glass on the table which we also had to use for our red wine later. The food is definitely not the quality it was under the previous owners.Sad to say this was one of my favorite restaurants in the area...
