Albergo Ristorante Bar Passo Baranca — Restaurant in Bannio Anzino

Since we did not find any possibility to book online (the website passobaranca.com is under construction and it is not possible to book over travel agents such as booking.com), we booked two triple rooms for six people over the phone. On the phone the owner asked us something in Italian and we understood that he asks us if we want to book also the dinner (mezza pensione). After our previous good experience in the same hotel with a different owner three years ago, we did not ask for further details and said that we also want to book the dinner. It turned out that we booked a completely overpriced "promozione" without understanding the details. We ended up paying 135 Euros per person for a triple room with one shared bathroom for all 6 of us, a standard dinner and breakfast (including the "vino della casa", i.e., a very average wine) because the owner insisted on the fact that he had sold us this "promozione" (offer). It is obvious that the owner took advantage of our weak italian (not understanding which offer we exactly agreed on). On a price list for the rooms, we saw that a triple room would cost around 40 Euros per person. So we ended up paying almost 95 Euros for the dinner per person, so we were ripped off by around 65 Euros per person (the whole group by around 400 Euros). Also the explanation of the owner that each of us could have chosen the most exquisite primo OR secondo from the menu (instead of having one standard primo AND secondo) does not justify the price of almost 100 Euros for the dinner.||||We hope that we can warn all fellow travellers from the dubious "promozione" in Passo Baranca with...

Abbiamo cenato a metà agosto presso questo ristorante dopo aver prenotato ( 2 giorni prima) un tavolo; al nostro arrivo il tavolo non era pronto, la nostra prenotazione era come se non esistesse e siamo stati accolti dalla frase "portate pazienza, siamo solo in 2". Arrivati verso le 20.10 abbiamo ricevuto la lista dopo 10 minuti ma solo dopo 30 minuti abbiamo potuto ordinare...anche dopo essere andati al bancone a chiedere se potevamo ordinare circa 20 minuti prima.... forse si erano dimenticati di noi nonostante tutti gli altri tavoli fossero stati serviti. Per fortuna una volta ordinato, 2 primi identici ed un solo secondo piatto, abbiamo ricevuto i nostri 2 primi dopo circa 10 minuti che abbiamo gustato e gradito( avevamo anche un po' di fame visto che erano le 21.00) . Dopodichè solo alle 21.45 il cameriere è venuto da noi a ritirare i piatti ed a chiederci se volevamo il caffè senza rendersi conto che non ci aveva ancora servito il secondo. Facciamo notare la cosa, il cameriere rientra in cucina e torna da noi dicendo che purtroppo il nostro secondo l'aveva portato ad un altro tavolo, arrivato dopo di noi, perchè qualcuno si era sbagliato e che se volevamo poteva portarci un piatto di formaggi ( che non centrava molto con ciò che avevamo ordinato). Passata oramai la fame abbiamo rifiutato e ci siamo alzati per pagare il conto (38 euro per 2 primi e 2 mezze bottiglie di naturale da 500 ml) dove oltre a non aver ricevuto scuse siamo stati salutati con un " speriamo di non vederci piu". NO COMMENT! Peccato perchè ciò che abbiamo mangiato dopo 1 ora di attesa era buono e perchè avevamo delle alte aspettative.....bastava solo che al momento della nostra prenotazione ci avessero detto che quella sera ci sarebbero stati dei problemi nel servizio e saremmo andati un'altra sera.
