Bar Ida looks like a promising beachfront spot — a chiringuito-style bar right on Maronti Beach. But what we encountered was pretentiousness without charm, paired with poor service and forgettable food.

We arrived for lunch to find the terrace barely a third full. Yet the male waiter immediately asked if we had a reservation — strange, given the emptiness. He then pointed us to a raised table by the coffee and gelato counter, clearly not part of the main restaurant area. Only after some hesitation did he “allow” us to sit on the terrace.

The odd part? Every guest who arrived after us was warmly welcomed and seated outside — no reservation questions asked. The double standard was impossible to miss.

As for the food: the pistachio-crusted prawns were listed as a starter, yes — but even for a starter, the portion was laughably small. The salad? Uninspired, small and minimal, yet €15. It all felt careless and overpriced.

Bar Ida seems to think it’s the next Club 55 — but let’s be clear: Club 55 is warmer, more professional, and Maronti beach is not Pamplelonne.

Cucina da sette più. Allora vi chiederete perché una stella. Bene, vi racconto subito quello che è successo. Partiamo dal presupposto che per me andare a mangiare al ristorante non significa solo mangiare bene ma trascorrere un momento rilassante dopo magari una giornata di lavoro o trascorrere in maniera serena una buona giornata con amici. Il ristorante è situato nella baia dei Maronti ed io sono arrivato in canoa da Sant’Angelo e ho raggiunto al tavolo i miei amici che già erano seduti. Per il caldo forte ed altri contrattempi, ho dimenticato la maglia e portato soltanto l’asciugamano, che, per rispetto, prima di entrare, avevo messo alla vita dato che ero in costume da bagno, ma appena entro una cameriera arriva al tavolo con un tono di voce non molto simpatico mi dice che non posso stare a dorso nudo nel locale. Io provo a spiegarle in modo tranquillo che purtroppo non avevo la maglia e mi dispiaceva e che in alternativa potevo poggiare l’asciugamano sulle spalle, ma lei alza il tono della voce e continua insistere dicendo che non potevo stare così e che l’asciugamano non era una maglia. Poi arriva il proprietario che con un tono di voce molto alto, facendosi sentire in sala da tutti quanti, urla dicendo che nel suo locale non si poteva essere a dorso nudo. Io gli chiedo, dopo aver notando che in sala c’erano donne in bikini, perché le donne potevano essere in bikini mentre io no e il proprietario con un sorriso mi guarda e mi dice le donne possono e gli uomini no ,una spiegazione alquanto insolita. Ad un certo punto faccio capire al proprietario che dovevamo mangiare e che doveva scegliere se farmi restare con l’asciugamano o cacciarmi e lui si gira e se ne va. Ma questo è solo l’inizio. Apriamo i menù e all’interno c’erano degli insetti morti, un po’ insolito per un locale che cerca di mantenere “una certa linea”. Poi ci portano un bicchiere sporco di rossetto, certo molto più importante avere persone con la maglia anziché dei bicchieri puliti. La disponibilità dei camerieri e del ristorante è limitata, infatti quando chiedo se era possibile una bruschetta con la mozzarella lui mi guarda e mi dice: le bruschette noi le facciamo solo col pomodoro. Ultima nota molto negativa: nessun cameriere, compreso il proprietario, avevano la mascherina, neanche abbassata, non l’avevano proprio. L’educazione, l’accoglienza, l’umiltà, il donare un sorriso, la semplicità, il sapersi relazionare con le persone sono alla base della ristorazione ischitana e meridionale, ed in questo locale non è presente. Se si decide di non accettare persone a dorso nudo in un locale che si trova a due passi dalla spiaggia e dal mare, anche tutto il resto deve essere Consono o conforme a quella che è la scelta del ristorante, ma in questo caso nulla è conforme, al massimo solo i camerieri che lavorano a 40° con pantaloni neri lunghi, ma senza...
