Ristorante Nuovo Tropical — Restaurant in Barano d'Ischia

My husband and I LOVED this restaurant! We found it while walking on the beach one afternoon and had cocktails then, after looking at the menu, decided on an early dinner. We are SO thankful we found them!!

I had pasta with class & mussels and my husband has pescatore. Both were amazing! By the time we left it was a little after 7:00pm and it began to get more crowded. The table next to us ordered a whole fish which was brought tableside to choose then prepared. It was filleted tableside.

We knew we had to go back for the fish! We actually returned the next afternoon for cocktails and I had a swim and returned later for dinner. The fish was amazing but so was the friendly service. Afterward in a local taxi, the driver advised the owner is a retired 5 star chef (although not really retired!)...he works in conjunction with his son! Both are friendly and made us feel so welcome.

We're from New Jersey in the US and found out his brother has a restaurant in Northern New Jersey. Great people! Amazing food! Stop reading...

I was determined to find the best pasta dish on the island and I found it. The location is only a bonus to how wonderful the service and how delicious the food is. A great buzz and genuine love for the customers and the servers - I will always be returning here when I come to visit the island. I might even visit the island especially for this beautiful restaurant. Get the fresh pasta whatever you do, the bruschetta is simply magnificent and definitely make room for the desert - whatever it is! We had lemon cream pie and even though I had three courses, it was so divine I made room. Simple, tasty, good real Italian food served with a smile on everyone’s face right...

The host/server rolled his eyes at us when we ordered three pasta dishes from the menu. He didn’t speak much English but we think he was implying it would take too long to cook three pasta dishes for our party of four. I was going to order pasta as well, but after the eye roll, decided not to. The food took a long time to arrive, with one of the pasta dishes arriving 20-25 min after the rest of the food. The pasta tasted like Barilla box pasta with Ragu sauce. I will say the calamari was good (which I ordered instead of my original pasta choice).
