Trattoria La Vecchia Capannina — Restaurant in Barberino Tavarnelle

This place is amazing. The food was fantastic. The hospitality is unmatched. Honestly the owner is the best part of the restaurant. He was so nice & welcoming. We felt like we were in someone's home. I've never been so happy eating at a restaurant. He made it more of an experience than just another meal. When you're there it feels authentic. It feels like family welcoming you. Actually my family isn't even a nice as the owner to be honest. I hope to one day be as happy & nice as him. The restaurant is quaint and adorable. The food is traditional and well made. I got the orichetti which was one of the best meals I've had in Italy thus far. My husband got a Chianti filet. He was very impressed with how tender it was. The tiramisu was incredible. Reading the other reviews I’m shocked compared to the experience we had last night. We ordered a pasta Ragu and the Lasagna and this food was like a microwave reheated meal, the cheese was packaged in individual packets (come on we are in Italy) and amount of bugs that were flying around made for one of the worst meals not only on our holiday but ever experienced. (First world problems I know) but it was an expensive meal. I’m not sure if it has recently changed owners, chef or something like that because the reviews previous seem good however ALERT the food has gone very down hill and way overpriced.

La Capannina is a small Restaurant and B&B in Tuscany, close to Sienna and Firenze (Florence).

We arrived at the place after an hour of searching for an open restaurant on and rainy day around 10 pm. The place is off the road and is probably open 24/7.

It is runned by a couple and their daughter, has great vibes and from the first moment you walk in- you feel at home!

The food is made on the spot from fresh ingredients and is absolutely delicious! The people are great and very welcoming, we had the best experience there!

When you arrive, you will see the place is new and they are working on making it bigger but it suits families and groups inside.
