Up and around a very narrow, winding road in the Dolomites, through a mile-long tunnel, to a dead-end stop at a vertical wall of mountain, a walk over a bridge with a beautiful river far, far beneath, there is perched a small restaurant with absolutely incredible food. When we first walked in, we weren't even sure it was open. There were only a few tables, and no one else was there. By the time we finished our dinner, wine, and dessert, the cozy place was full of laughter and conversation. It's one of those places that if you know, you know. We didn't, but now we do. It was some of the best food I have ever had. That's saying a lot in Italy, where great food is the norm. As we left, we met the cook Steffano, who got a kick out of discovering he shared a name with my husband Steven. He spoke very little English, but when he heard the name, his face broke out in a huge smile and he exclaimed "Ah! The best!" And...
Read moreA cozy, welcoming place on the scenic cliff of a gorge. It’s a charming and rustic place. The tasty polenta is made in the dining room. There is freshly baked bread, local and seasonal ingredients, and a finely crafted and small menu. The servers are courteous and helpful.
The decor is comfortable and timeless, and I’m sure the patios are lovely in the summer. In the cooler months there is a fire warming the dining room. Two adorable cats may also join you for your dining experience. You are also welcomed with a glass of Prosecco.
For such a high-quality experience, the prices are fair. The dining room is small so you may want to make a reservation to ensure a table. Overall an amazing and...
