Trattoria Pedra Longa — Restaurant in Baunei

The one star is for the location. And believe me that's all this place deserves! We went in just after they opened, we said we only want a drink and we were told that the veranda (tables with the view) are pre-reserved/ for those eating only ( at least that's what I think the waiter has said as he did not speak any English); we happily took a table just outside the veranda and ordered drinks. We thought we might eat there so we asked to have a look at the food menu; the waiter was keen to ask if we want to eat but we said we're not sure yet. Suddenly, we were shown to a veranda table even though we said we were happy to stay where we were. The second we sat down we were asked if we want to order, before I even had a chance to look at the menu. 2 min later the waiter came back to ask if we are ready to order and I was only on the 2nd page of the menu. 2 min later a waitress came over and asked for our order. We decided not to eat there and asked for the bill- it was like the hell has opened! The waiter was shouting things in Italian and then asked us to leave! I have not even finished my drink... No one has even asked why we've decided not to eat there... So for those who want to know why: 1- we have food allergies and the menu was not very detailed so it was difficult to establish ingredients and the staff didn't speak English so I didn't want to risk it, 2- I felt like we were being pressured to order quickly so they can turn around the table for the next customer (the restaurant was half empty), 3- we were seating under the tree and there were bugs dropping on the table so I wouldn't want to eat there. Let me make it clear that at no point we said we were going to order food and we've not asked to sit at the veranda. Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La trattoria Pedra Longa si trova presso un roccione calcareo a picco sul mare chiamato appunto “Pedra Longa” (“pietra lunga” tradotto dal sardo), da cui si ha il nome della trattoria. Il luogo è incantevole e la trattoria ha una terrazza con una vista mozzafiato sul mare sottostante, regalando una incredibile esperienza durante la cena al tramonto. Mangiare in terrazza non è semplice: bisogna prenotare in anticipo un posto per usufruire dei tavoli con la vista migliore e bisogna pagare una aggiunta del 10% sul servizio.

Ambiente ⭐️⭐️⭐️ La trattoria ha a disposizione sia una parte coperta che una scoperta, per l’appunto la terrazza panoramica, che di notte risulta essere poco illuminata, tanto che abbiamo fatto fatica a vedere cosa avevamo nel piatto. Gli arredi erano pressoché assenti sulla terrazza, ma questa semplicità aiutava a godersi maggiormente il panorama. La serata era molto tranquilla e il grado di rumorosità era basso, quindi era possibile chiacchierare indisturbatamente

Accoglienza ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Il personale di sala è stato cordiale ed educato sia al nostro arrivo che al termine della cena, tuttavia non è stato in grado di farmi sentire accolto. Anche tra una portata e l’altra ho notato che i camerieri erano stanchi, questo non è piacevole dal punto di vista del cliente.

Servizio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I tempi sono stati calcolati bene, tanto che al nostro arrivo ci hanno fatto subito accomodare al nostro posto, portandoci immediatamente il menù. Non è passato molto tempo dalla consegna dei menù al momento dell’ordine. Il cameriere, nonostante la confusione presente al tavolo (eravamo una decina compresi alcuni bambini), è riuscito a prendere il nostro ordine senza troppe difficoltà. Le portate non si sono fatte attendere, arrivando nell’ordine prestabilito al momento della prenotazione. Verso la fine del pasto ci hanno preso le ordinazioni per il dolce e per il caffè. Anche qua c’è stata una po’ di confusione da parte nostra e si è perso solo un dolce. I camerieri hanno gestito l’imprevisto e, senza far aspettare ulteriormente, lo hanno preparato e portato tempestivamente.

Menù Nel menù non erano presenti pizze, seppure su internet si trova scritto che la trattoria è un ristorante-pizzeria. Il cibo proposto è tipico sardo, con prevalenza di portate di pesce rispetto a quelle di carne.

Conto ⭐️ Il rapporto qualità-prezzo l’ho trovato poco equilibrato, per la verità molto caro: il cibo non era nulla di eccezionale, restava nella media e le porzioni non erano abbondanti. Ho preso un piatto misto carne che costava 17€ ma che non mi ha sfamato perché molto scarno. L’ho accompagnato con un contorno di patate fritte (4,50€) davvero buone e per concludere ho preso una seada con il miele di corbezzolo (5€). L’abbinata miele amaro e sapore dolce della seada è delizioso, seppure non per tutti. Peccato solo che la seada non è stata cotta bene e, al posto di essere bella croccante, risultava...

Attention!! Tourist trap.

Pro's: an amazing view, beautiful restaurant to watch the sunset. Prosciutto e melone was very good.

Cons: Orderded tagliata di manzo, was too chewy and seemed like it wasn't fresh. I chewed tiny little pieces and the waitress took my plate and came back with a filetto di manzo. It was better prepared but still not tasty.

The gamberi were mushy and not a good texture and the smell was off. Not fresh almost spoiled!!

Tried to explain this all to the waitress but she couldn't believe us and thought it was a bit strange of me. The price was way too high while I only ate my ham& melon dish and some of the meat dishes.

Now I'm writing this in the bathroom with an upset stomach.

Had eaten better at many different other restaurants in Italy (provence TO/RA and now in Sardinia for some weeks).

Can recommend to drive a little further to Baunei and go to the little pizzeria.
