"Delightful Seaside Dining at a Family-Run Gem in Amantea"

My party of four had the pleasure of dining at this lovely family-run restaurant during our visit to Amantea in mid-September. Although the cooler evening temperatures prevented us from sitting at the tables overlooking the sea, the charming blue and white decor inside created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.

We started with a plate of fresh, plump mussels that were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. For our main courses, we tried two different types of succulent pork dishes, a beautifully grilled fish plate, and a side of tender zucchini that complemented each dish wonderfully.

To finish, we indulged in the restaurant's must-try granita dessert, made with lemon and basil, which was a refreshing and delightful end to our meal. The pride that the family takes in their business is evident in the quality of the food, the attentive service, and the warm ambiance they've created.

Il Corallo Nero non conquista solo per la cucina: il locale è architettonicamente bellissimo, curato in ogni dettaglio per offrire un’atmosfera accogliente e rilassante. Lo stile richiama il mare con eleganza e sobrietà, mentre le pareti sono impreziosite da splendide immagini delle profondità marine della ricca e affascinante area del parco naturale dei “Fondali Scogli di Isca” che è uno degli esempi più belli di flora e fauna mediterranea, caratterizzati da una estesa prateria di Posidonia climax, ad alta biodiversità, praterie di margherite di mare, spirografi, spugne, e appunto coralli....Il ristorante è un ambiente che ti mette subito in zona di comfort, perfetto per lasciarsi alle spalle la routine e abbracciare una pausa di autentico PIACERE. Con la nuova gestione, il Corallo Nero di Belmonte Calabro è diventato molto più di un semplice ristorante: è un’esperienza sensoriale che fonde sapientemente la raffinatezza veneta con l’autenticità calabrese. La location? Una terrazza mozzafiato a pochi metri dal mare...I piatti sono un capolavoro di gusto e freschezza: il pesce arriva dal mare alla tavola con una delicatezza rara, lavorato con maestria dallo chef che dimostra una preparazione solida, maturata tra Nord, Sud e persino oltre oceano, fino al Canada. Ogni portata racconta una storia di passione e cultura culinaria. E poi... che sorpresa sentire l’accento padovano in terra calabra! È stato più che confortevole, quasi un abbraccio inaspettato che unisce nord e sud con naturalezza e calore. Un plauso speciale allo chef che, pur avendo mille opportunità altrove, ha scelto di investire nella propria terra d’origine. Una scelta di cuore, coraggiosa e straordinaria, che si riflette in ogni dettaglio del Corallo Nero. Lo staff? Gentilezza, attenzione e accoglienza sono la regola, non l’eccezione. Si percepisce un’armonia perfetta tra professionalità e calore umano, un’atmosfera che ti fa sentire coccolato sin dal primo istante. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è altamente competitivo: un valore aggiunto che rende l’esperienza ancora più gratificante, soprattutto considerando la qualità eccelsa delle materie prime e la cura nella presentazione. Exceptional beach position and view, very friendly owner and chef (Italian-Canadians), and great fresh fish! Adriana and Luigi run this wonderful family beach spot with love! Very good pasta al nero di seppia with acciughe, but the star of the show was the perfectly cooked tuna steak with Tropea red onion and olive sauce with an amazingly buttery olive oil. I'm a chef, I cooked in Italy for five years in the 1990s, and have been to 37 countries so far... this tuna was one of the top three best tuna dishes of my 53 years of life so far! Come for the view, but stay for the great people and food! Don't miss the lemon basil granita...
