The amazing scenery is the perfect location for such an excellent hotel. Situated between Bibbona and Bolgheri, only a short drive from the bigger town of Cecina. ||||From the moment my girlfriend and I arrived until the moment we left, we simple fell in love with the whole place. We were warmly greeted at reception and the check in process was quick and uncomplicated, which we were thankful for after a long drive from Florence. Upon entering the room (Vermantino) we were in awe of the interior design of it and the views from the lovely shutter windows. The sunrise and sunset through these was just sublime and made us very relaxed. ||||The bed was everything we could ask for, extremely comfortable and plenty of pillows. The 2 x bathrooms and shower are all very modern with a large walk in shower and 2 sinks with 2 x remote velux windows. However the classic touch was continued with the wooden beamed ceilings. There is only a room cleaning and towel service but not regular laundry. However this wasn't an issue for us and there are laundry places in the bigger towns if you so wish. ||||Breakfast was equally amazing with a plentiful selection of breads, home made omelettes, fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, fresh yoghurt and drinks. The coffee was also excellent. The dinner menu was varied and very very tasty, with complimentary appetizers given to us on our first evening. Compliments to the chef! There are lots of locals that visit in the evening for dinner and wine, so the tables can be scarce in the restaurant especially on a Friday or Saturday night (a good sign). I suggest to book in advance. The staff were all excellent and always on hand to ask if we needed anything or if the meals were to our expectations. ||||As you would expect they were extremely knowledgable on the wines from the menu and suggested to us a very tasteful red on our first night which to me was extremely affordable.||||Wish we could have stayed for longer and tried the wine tasting of the extremely well...

Read moreThe Locanda dell'Aioncino could be an amazing lodging with some changes. Here are the positive aspects:||1. Modernized Antique Farmhouse: The lobby and rooms have all been renovated and modernized yet in keeping with the antique charm of a Tuscan farmhouse. ||2. Comfort: The room was spacious, minimally decorated revealing the charm of the terra-cotta colored walls, bright with 3 windows overlooking the vineyards and a finally in Italy a bed that was soft, plush and perfect for sleeping. ||3. Proximity: The location is close to Bulgheri and all other places of interest in the Tuscan Maremma. ||4. Breakfast: Since the location has a restaurant, the breakfast featured freshly prepared cakes, breads, eggs as well as cheese, fruit, cereal, juices and more. It was a well appreciated breakfast that lasted until lunch! ||||Changes:||1. Community: You are surrounded by grape vines and wineries on all sides of the Locanda and for miles yet, the staff do not offer you a complimentary glass of wine in the afternoon. In fact, when I asked if they had a meet & greet afternoon wine tasting event the young 20-ish attendant laughed at me. Yes, he laughed at me. Of course there was no mature manager or owner on premises to discuss. ||2. Restaurant featured excellent food. Service was ok with the two servers on Sunday night when there was a max of 4 tables (about 16 people). When the restaurant filled to double that amount or more, service suffered greatly. There was only 2 servers, no managers, no bus people. ||3. Lack of management or ownership on premises. I was once in my 20's and knew that I had little knowledge or experience to be effective without the supervision of senior managers or owners to direct, train, mentor and advise. I never met a manager or owner the entire weekend I was there. ||||Would I return to stay at Locanda? Would I recommend it others? Only if...
