I stayed for 5 nights as part of a creative writing retreat/workshop. Albergo Ristorante Leso is the most wonderful place. For a start, it's set in the most beautiful scenery, up in the mountains less than an hour from the lovely city of Verona. It was a superb place for a writing retreat - the light is amazing, the views are inspiring and the hosts couldn't do enough for us - including recommending walks and even driving us to the next town (which is a lovely place to look around). An excellent base for hiking, exploring, relaxing, a couple's holiday, getting away with friends or for solo travellers. Despite the fact that you really feel you're getting away from it all, there's unbelievably cheap public transport between the village and Verona.
The hotel itself is lovely - the rooms are bright, clean and have everything you need. Ours even had a balcony with a gorgeous view. The air is fresh and clean. We left the windows open at night and were woken up by the tinkling of cowbells in the morning. And then there's the food! Traditional, local, delicious. We were there for 5 nights and we were treated to a huge variety of fresh produce, fresh pasta, polenta, risotto, etc. All of it accompanied by excellent (and very cheap) local wine.
Albergo Ristorante Leso is family run, laid back and friendly. I'd like to say a special thanks to Irene whose warmth made us feel so welcome. She looked after us really well and even gave me her tube of mosquito cream! That's dedication above and beyond!
I can't recommend this place highly enough. I came home relaxed, recharged...

The room had fantastic views and was very comfortable. The food served for dinner In the restaurant downstairs was steeped in Italian tradition and...
