Trattoria Marsupino 1901 — Restaurant in Briaglia

I have stayed here twice, both times over 5 years ago. I will be visiting Bologna in two weeks and will make a separate trip just to return to this wonderful place. It is located in the country, on a quiet street. The two rooms I stayed in were very comfortable, quiet, great bathrooms. The breakfast served was one of the best I've had in my 10 trips to Italy. This was my third time eating here during the past decade. The restaurant has fallen significantly. Service was consistently lacking with a 30 min wait after seating to take an order, wait staff who were not available when needed, confusion about what was ordered and a general lack of attentiveness that was really unexpected. The 76 page wine list was not available except on the tiny screen of a cell phone. I found the serving sizes to be very small. The food was very good to excellent and the deserts were outstanding. Unless I hear that they have significantly improved I will not be going back nor recommending...

We stopped on our way back from the mountains with two overtired two years old. They took us in and immediately set up a comfortable space for us and the girls. Thanks to the staff's patience and swift service, we were able to enjoy a full meal as we hadn't been able to do in a long time, and what meal! from The home made grissini to the finely flavored desserts, this place serves excellent traditional cuisine with a tasteful modern twist that enhances and never overpowers the taste of carefully selected ingredients.
