High-quality AUTHENTIC and HOMEMADE Piemontese food prepared and served in the traditional fashion. The food was so good my family and I had dinner there both nights we were in the area. It was a welcomed find compared to the overpriced and/or poor quality tourist-centric restaurants in downtown Stresa, where we were staying. We loved how there were no menus, and that Vera would inform us of that day's available pasta and meat dishes, and desserts. The food was incredible! Prices were very reasonable, great value. Hidden away in the tiny hamlet of Stropino. The restaurant's unusual name derives from local umbrella makers' slang, apparently. The quirkiness doesn't stop there. No written menu, Basil Fawlty-type "welcome." We were the only non-locals there, and glances from the regulars were initially suspicious, hostile even.
