This restaurant was an unexpected delight and the perfect stop along the E847 from Salerno to Matera / Taranto / Brindisi. From the outside, it might not catch your eye, but inside it’s spacious and modern.
Remarkably, it was the only place during our entire trip through Italy where we weren’t handed a menu — instead, a charming and friendly young host (who speaks excellent English) asked about our preferences, described the best seasonal vegetables, and offered us tailored options — it felt like having a private chef.
Every dish was excellent, but the pappardelle ai porcini were simply unforgettable: such a humble dish, yet incredibly rich in flavor. My daughter raved about it for days! We loved it so much that, weeks later, we were ready to take a longer route back just to enjoy that dish again, but sadly it was Sunday and the restaurant was closed. If any of you guys out there want to have THE closest experience to visiting your italian nonna, hugs and kindness included, this is where you want to be.
A spot you do not know, but feels kinda familiar. People you see for the first time, but they are kinda family. Food that you technically pay for, but is kinda made just for you.
If you do appreciate the simple, but amazing things, for a very good price, this is where you want to be.
Me and my small family enjoyed every of our five visits and will definitely return every year, when having holidays.
Thank you PL, Zi Mari and my buddy Antonio for taking care of us!
PS: Did I even say something about the food? It is...
