AMAZING!!! This is where I will begin with our experience at il Verreno. The location is set up on top of a hill in the small town of Bucine with such beautiful views of the mountains and hillside from all angles. The pool and villas were beautiful. The rooms are very spacious & rustic but modern at the same time. Everything looks and smells like brand new! The first thing I noticed upon entering our suite was that the linens smelled fresh and were super clean each day. The bed was very comfortable! The fridge stocked with fresh milk and water each day a well as a nespresso for coffee.
The manager Silvia was incredible! She was so warming and welcoming from the moment she greeted us upon arrival. She went above and beyond to make us feel rite at home and ensure we had everything we needed & more during our stay.
As for the restaurant.....simply PHENOMENAL!!! Chef Donnaluisa is a noteworthy chef, just incredible! We were started off with a welcome glass of Prosecco & a chef’s special appetizer each night. We tried the 5 course tastings of her famous air, land and water menu which blew us away! Especially the guinea fowl in hay! A must try. Her handmade pico was to die for and we also tried some of the nightly specials like the squid ink tagitelle with seafood and the burrata Ravoli with truffle....superb! Please save room for dessert! Each night we were given a new set of petite fours (the pannacotta bursted with flavor) accompanying our chosen dessert for the evening and a complimentary glass of moscato. Even the gelato was amazing, arguably better than Venice!
The service provided by Silvia and Marcos for dinner blew us away! They were so attentive and welcoming. It was evident that they shared the chef’s passion for the food being served. We truly felt as if we were in the company of our family despite being in a such a beautiful, elegant and romantic setting!
All I can say as we cannot wait to return and THANK YOU to Silvia and staff for making our visit...
Read moreWe planned a holiday in Il Verreno back in May. Finally July came and we arrived at this fairytale hotel. Everything is beautiful, large rooms, spacious bathroom, homemade welcome cookies .... Nature and landscape like from a fairy tale ... Food like in the best restaurants with Michelin stars ... Unforgettable .... But then a bad situation happens at home and we have to end our stay and return after only three days (and we planned seven) back to Belgrade. What I want to emphasize in particular, in addition to everything wonderful that this hotel has to offer and that all people who visit it will see for themselves, is that Silvia is a generous woman, the heart of a woman who did her best and pledged to give us the money we paid via Booking.com byude returned for all the days we could not spend in IL Verreno. Really, I wants to share with everyone how selflessly she tried to make it easier for us in the situation that befell us ... There may be many more good hotels, but I am sure that the soul of the hotel is given by the people who work in it. Judging by the staff of Il Verreno, this hotel has what many hotels do not have. My warm recommendation to all who want to feel the charms of Tuscany ... The right place to go on a tour of the beautiful region ... Everything that awaits you there remains in the memory forever .. Accommodation, cleanliness, location, food, hospitality, kindness and desire of the people to help you when you are in a bad situation. My husband and I will definitely be back next year, to complete this wonderful...
Read moreThere are so many well-deserved positive things to say about Il Verreno that this is not a short review. The setting is peaceful and magical, high above the Ambra Valley with views across orchards, olive groves and vineyards to wooded hills - best seen from the swimming pool! The historic buildings have been restored with great care and furnished with striking taste. The extensive public seating areas and library show the comfort of guests is more important than profit. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The bed was unimaginably comfortable. There was a decent sized refrigerator too. The choice and quality of food at breakfast was better than I can remember anywhere (I have posted a video!) The food in the restaurant is full of imaginative surprises and has a deserved high reputation. The wine list offers many great options for all lovers of Tuscan wines. The staff are unfailingly professional, polite, efficient and friendly. We liked them! Ambra village is a short distance away. Small, charming and the home of the Notti Ambra on summer Tuesday evenings - not to be missed. Bucine train station is not far with trains to Arezzo and Florence. Il Verreno is not the cheapest nor the most expensive place to stay in Tuscany. We felt it was fairly priced for the high standards it offers. The sincerest compliment we can give is that we intend to come back for a...
