I can't get over the fact that this restaurant has such a high rating (4.8 with 800+ reviewers). IMHO, it's an overpriced place significantly inferior in food to other local Sicilian restaurants. Was it just a bad day for the restaurant, something changed or inflated rating? We ordered: - otopus salat - OK - citrus salat - absolutely terrible, just a sliced orange and lemon... no sauce, no sprinkles.. nothing more... for a price €8 O_o - gnocchi with pawns - OK, tasty classic - pizza castello - dry, I ate much better in Sicily - tiramisu - worst of the whole vacation. like bought in supermarket; after all the waitress asked "Bueno???" - sounds like a joke :( - water - in restaurant's branded bottle; the lid comes off easily, as if the bottle had been reused. The restaurant is located on a hill. Good view for a local area, but nothing special. It takes a lot of patience to get there through the narrow streets. Nice interior, generally it looks clean. Small problems with hornets and wasps. Not bad place, visit it for view and atmosphere. But it's really overrated and overpriced for my opinion.

We have been staying in Taormina for 7 nights now and decided to venture somewhere different tonight. We are SO glad we did! It isn’t an exaggeration to say this is by far the best meal we have had here and are disappointed we didn’t find it sooner!. The food is outstanding- delicious, fresh and homemade. We had the bruschetta, pizza and gnocchi and all were very tasty. The service from our two waitresses was also brilliant. We cannot recommend this place enough for anyone wanting delicious authentic Sicilian food (and reasonably priced) 20 minutes out of Taormina.

The food is delicious! The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. What sets this restaurant apart is the stunning view. The atmosphere is perfect! One of the many conveniences is the ability to pay by card. I don't have any pictures of food because if something is delicious, there's no need to take photos – just enjoy the feast. But pasta, gnocchi and meat are extraordinary. Of course, don't forget to drink later on grappa.

If you don't see a local eat at a restaurant, you are warned.

So, a bit of background about me; I have eaten in quite a lot of places in the world and on several continents. I have been positively surprised by the hospitality of the Sicilians; At this restaurant the hospitality was good. After a small climb, we were welcomed by the owner, and took a seat in the restaurant and enjoyed the nice view. The restaurant has a mix of new and old interior, very enjoyable. Their desert was also very nice. So far the end of the good points. We have never eaten such terrible food, I would be ashamed if I would serve this to my guests. My wife had the tourist menu and I had the catch of the day (swordfish, grilled .... I suspect....) The swordfish was dry and tasteless, the decoration of the plate was ok. They forgot to warm the plates, so by the time your dish arrives on your table it is downright cold. There was some pickled paprika on the side, and some fried eggplant on the side. My wife had tasteless antipasti with pickled onions, 2 types of tasteless peas. We were not amused but thought: what is the worst what could happen? We jinxed it, the next plate was pasta, with eggplant and tomatosauce which was burned, the pasta was not cooked well and stuck together (I have never seen that in Italy so far), again tasteless.... Again, not amused. The next plate was some minced meat, grilled, but it almost floated in it's own fat. Eventually desert, which tasted great, only one strawberry was rotten...... I think they should...
