I dined here twice. The food is superlative and the waiters could not have given better advice. The chickpea soup and the rabbit stuffed with porchetta were stand- out dishes. The saffron risotto was tasty but perhaps over-complicated by the addition of walnuts. The waiters recommended excellent (and economical) local wines.||The hotel is less cut and dried. The room was fine and the price fair. But there was something either reserved or unfriendly about the service. They don’t do laundry and no, the shuttle bus won’t run you into town. The cleaners start banging on your door before nine, and in one case marched straight in to see me in my full glory ! Not much smiling or laughter. Maybe because they’re used to dealing with a somewhat low-level Italian clientele ?||By the way, the historical part of Camerino was sadly utterly destroyed by the earthquake three years ago and the modern bit is depressing so there’s not much point in visiting.||But do go to the...

Bad service was one thing, but very bad food on top! Lamb chops fried to a cinder and over-spiced, pasta not even cooked to al dente, a salad too salty and oiled - the list goes on. This place clearly sees itself at a top level - but is unable to deliver. Go if you like for the view and want to stay out of town (not always a great idea anyway). But STAY AWAY from...
