Kontiki — Restaurant in Campo nell'Elba

Higher end, relaxed (family friendly) dining. What a wonderful way to spend our last night on Elba. A beautiful elevated location, comfortable but smart and elegant terrace dining, and a genuine and warm welcome, excellent service (very friendly). Food is very good, easily on another level from the standard (and nice) eateries of Marina di Campo. The crab linguini was molto al dente (too al dente for my taste) but the sauce will be something I'll be thinking about a year from now. However the highlight for me was what sounded like a simple catch of the day which I had with truly excellent tempura vegetables. It was a local rock fish, reddish and quite armoured looking, traditionally a common staple around Elba, which we'd been shown along with live lobster and sole and other new arrivals from the sea as we sat at our table shortly after we ourselves arrived. It is flavoursome due to its diet, we were told, and indeed it was. In fact, the dish was excellent, and I don't get excited about seafood very often. The fried veg bed on which this fish sat and the slivers of sauces, combined to be a truly memorable meal. Surprisingly fab white Elban wine accompaniment. Beautiful company and location. A heady combination. Who can ask for more on holiday, or indeed in life? Thank you Kontiki and its staff....

Underwhelmed and overpriced.

I recently dined at Kontiki, hoping for a delightful seafood experience. Unfortunately, the visit fell short of expectations.

Firstly, the price-quality ratio was not right. The dishes were overpriced for what was offered. The portions were surprisingly small, leaving us unsatisfied. 60 euros (excluding a coperto of 4 euros) for a mixed dish of grilled seafood with barely any fish on it. Additionally, the food was served on cold plates, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal as everything became cold quickly. In my opinion they try to deliver gourmet or fine cooking but this is mainly noticeable in the plating of the dish. The flavours were quite bland.

The view was nice, overlooking the harbor of Marina Di Campo.

Overall, I would not recommend Kontiki if you're looking...

Sicuramente una recensione negativa nn farà cambiare la politica aziendale del ristorante ma forse 100 o più recensioni negative potrebbero mettere in discussione qlcosa... e quindi aggiungo la mia A prescindere dal fatto che il listino prezzi é molto chiaro quindi nn discuto sui prezzi ma sulla quantità e sopratutto qualità del cibo che viene così tanto decantata dal (presumo) proprietario del locale.... A casa mia si dice meno chiacchere e più fatti.... Il mio spaghetto alle vongole nn era niente di che... ma ci sta... le vongole sono vongole e i pomodorini pure... magari un pizzico di sale in più un minimo di peperoncino una spolverata di prezzemolo fresco poteva dare qlcosa in più ma vabbè... la frittura di paranza... quella di totani (ma specificatamente detto di calamari) e gamberi rosa... (che per qualità vengono serviti anche nel crudo) insieme a quella mista alle verdure croccanti su questo qlcosa posso dire... Il prezzo nn coincide assolutamente ne con la qualità ne con la quantità... abbiamo ordinato tre fritti per sei persone e ci aspettavamo sicuramente qlcosa che rappresentasse il prezzo che li accompagnava... e invece delusione (dopo il sorvolamento del primo...) non mi é ancora chiaro come erano fritti perché pastella croccante nn mi é parsa.... tre gamberetti in croce anellini di calamaro e qlcosina di paranza e sfilettato (che io neanche ho assaggiato) appoggiati al lato di un vassoio rettangolare accompagnati da uno spicchio di limone..... Si dice che anche gli occhi vogliono la loro parte ma qui tra occhi stomaco nessuno ha avuto la parte solo il conto alla fine... 😊E nn ho parlato dell'attesa... Sinceramente leggendo tutte le recensioni positive una domanda me la sono fatta.... ma la gente cosa é abituata ab mangiare a casa ? Piatti pronti preconfezionati da scaldare? perché altrimenti nn me lo spiego.... A buon...
