Osteria Canapino — Restaurant in Capannori

I'm sorry, we're not Italian, so how can we even have the chance to a nice evening? Sure, vibes can be off on occasion and nobody's perfect, but even though my understanding of Italian is quite ok, we were so much felt to be passers by. The primi were all fine and if we ever return we will stick to that. The secondi were a mixed bag. The tagliata will do the job, the pork however was very dry and burnt along the bone. We ordered 6 contorni, 2 of which were double, but we would not know for sure whether the specific contorni were in fact double. The fries barely were a double portion. I had a caraf of beer as appetizer, ordered the same later, but then only got one beer in a glass. One of the waitresses kept passing by the table every 2/3 minutes. I wonder now if we were ever greeted properly at all, asked if the food was fine or anything the like. Maybe the overall experience tainted the memory. The experience was concluded with a single figure bill, rounded, no further explanation. So, after all we rely on trusting one another? Happy to do so, but not here, not how we were treated.

Other reviews mentioned a grappa at the end. Obviously not for us.

So sorry that our host, who is less than a mile out of the venue, really recommended this.

Pessima esperienza. In giro per lavoro e desideroso di mangiare piatti toscani, decido di andare in questo locale sia per le foto dei piatti, sia perché nel loro sito viene pibilicizzata la cucina Toscana, facendo riferimento ai vari piatti che servono. Bene, mi siedo e.... di toscano ho visto ben poco!!!! Pertanto se cercate un locale per gustare la cucina Toscana, cercate un altro locale, qui non troverete nulla di ciò! A mezzogiorno menù alla carta inesistente, o meglio soli due piatti. Tortelloni al ragù e tagliata di carne. Menù lavoro molto più vario. Solitamente é il contrario. Chido se possono farmi un antipasto. Mi viene servito. Era meglio non prenderlo. 3 fette di slame e altrettanto di prosciutto. Due crostini, troppa fatica metterli? Opto per il tortello al ragù. Abbondanti, ma crudi e affogati in un mare di olio, vedi foto. Servizio praticamente inesistente, sono entrato alle 12.15 e sono uscito alle 13.45. Per mangiare due robe, tutto questo tempo? Il locale, vedi foto era praticamente vuoto. Vuoi mangiare toscano? Piuttosto vai alla vicina Esselunga, hanno piatti toscani precotti di diverso assortimento rispetto a questo locale! E ho detto tutto. Poi se a mezzogiorno non fanno la tipica cucina Toscana, va bene, ma che costa scriverlo sul sito? Vuoi un locale per il menù lavoro, questo é il locale giusto. Prezzo? Onesto. This place is an hidden gem. We found it by accident and the food was so good! We are not big eaters so we started with sharing the tordelli and second course the bf had the fish and I had the beef.
