Looking for something different than the typical Italian cuisine then the chef surprise fish menu is pretty good...lacked a little variety with prawns featuring in several dishes.. octopus as the main!! A Michelin recommendation raise the expectations, and so it should especially considering that you’re paying a premium. Serendepico outside Lucca doesn’t live up to these expectations. Serendipico compare anche sulla Guida Michelin e quindi ci vai con delle aspettative. Per arrivarci fai anche un po’ di strada nelle campagne Lucchesi e quindi ci arrivi col mood giusto. La nostra esperienza è stata piacevole, ma ahimè non così esaltante come mi aspettavo.
La location ha il suo fascino, ma il giardino su cui si mangia all’aperto è piccolo, senza vista, e gli arredi sono decisamente molto spartani (tavoli, ombrelloni, luci, decorazioni).
La cucina ha una qualità molto variabile, ma sempre con ingredienti di ottimo livello. Alcune cose ci sono piaciute davvero tantissimo, come l’escabeche con salsa tartara o il “Pomodoro marinato in ponzu, crudo di crostacei, pane croccante e spuma di mozzarella”. Altre cose sono invece abbastanza deludenti (es. il risotto con bisque di crostacei) o comunque non all’altezza delle aspettative.
La cucina era in ritardo, quindi i tempi sono un po’ saltati. Il servizio è simpatico, ma non in linea con il prezzo della cena. Raramente mi è capitato in una cena da oltre 100 euro a persona di trovarmi con i camerieri che ti sparecchiano i tavoli accanto, preparando per il giorno dopo.
