Ristorante Il Cervo — Restaurant in Caramanico Terme

If you are in this area, you cannot miss eating at this restaurant in the middle of the Majella park. The wild game dishes are delicious, and you can't find them everywhere. The restaurant is very nice, and in my opinion it is suitable for groups as well as smaller groups.

I suggest Il cervo appetiser, where there are wild game, very special cold and hot hors de oeuvre, and also plentiful. First courses include ravioli with deer (my favourite, they are ricotta ravioli with deer stew on top), but pappardelle with wild boar are also excellent, of course they are more classic. For main courses there is obviously always wild game, but the mixed grill is also excellent. Desserts are homemade: the tiramisu, made with bread instead of biscuits, making it crispier and not so sweet, is really excellent.

In 5 we took: 3 Il cervo starters, 2 portions of deer ravioli and 1 portion of tagliatelle with mushrooms and sausage, 1 deer stew and 1 of wild boar with potatoes al coppo and 3 desserts, so that we were full without bingeing but tasting everything. 150 euros to be...

Abbiamo prenotato con una settimana d'anticipo in questo ristorante viste le buonissime recensioni e per essere sicuri di trovare posto. La domenica fanno il doppio turno...optiamo per le 12.30. Ristorante piccolino molto caratteristico in pietra (l'esterno è di una normalissima casa). Ordiniamo un antipasto del cervo (molto abbondante e buono), ravioli al cervo discreti (3 grandi ravioli con pasta non molto cotta e che galleggiavano nell'olio con bocconcini di cervo lesso e poi ripassato in tegame), tagliatelle al farro con noci e salvia pessime....erano molto scotte e avevano assorbito una grande quantità d'olio; la cameriera (proprietaria??) vedendo la fiamminga ancora mezza piena (l'altra mezza stava nel piatto di mia moglie) ci chiede se volevamo portarla via ma noi gli facciamo presente il "problema" e come risposta solo un cenno di disappunto (non ci ha chiesto se volevamo altro, se ce le poteva rifare, una scusa...nulla!!! Servizio pessimo!). Ritorna al tavolo come se nulla fosse e porta una grigliata mista (misto di che??)...una salsiccia buona con 3 pezzi d'abbacchio (c'era scritto anche vitello ma forse si sono "confusi" e hanno messo solo agnello) buonini ma forse anch'essi sbollentati e poi cotti alla brace. Patate scritte al forno ma invece lesse con una leggera ripassata al forno...scrivete lesse che è più sincero. Dolce semifreddo ai frutti di bosco...non altro che una dolce confezionato con base di pastafrolla pessima con una montagna di gelatina ai frutti di bosco...non buono. Caffè ottimi come il conto. Sinceramente sono rimasto molto deluso dal cibo (nulla ovviamente di immangiabile ma non tale da fare molti km) ma soprattutto dal servizio...se i clienti lamentano in maniera gentile che una pietanza non è venuta bene (tutti possiamo sbagliare!!!!) ci si aspetta almeno una scusa, una giustificazione e invece come se nulla fosse e infatti ritroviamo il piatto non mangiato nel conto. We were recommended to this wonderful restaurant by the owner of a nearby bike rental shop (Majabike in San Valentino, check it out)… we could not have asked for a better lunch or more hospitable service. We overcame the language barrier (that’s due to our poor Italian) and asked the owner to “bring us what’s good.” She smiled and proceeded to serve a 6-course lunch representing all local specialties.
