We stayed here for a few nights in the large apartment on the top floor. It was a great room for our family. The beds were firm and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the shower had excellent water pressure. There was a little living room and a kitchenette which we didn't use for cooking but the refrigerator was very handy for chilling drinks and snacks. The apartment had balconies with chairs and we enjoyed sitting outside reading. The only thing that is important to know is that this hotel seems to be the local hangout so there are people downstairs in the public areas talking and laughing until fairly late. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere but some might find it annoying. I had earplugs and since the weather was hot and we had fans on the white noise from the fans drowned out some of the sound. The breakfasts were an assortment of meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, and coffee, tea, juices. That was fine for us. The majority of the staff spoke very little English however the manageress who also served breakfast spoke English very well and was very nice and answered our questions as needed. It really is a lovely little hotel, very professionally managed and comfortable. We felt very lucky to have discovered it. Also, The supermarket is within walking distance of the hotel. Also, there is a very enjoyable nature walk along the river. It is a short drive to Lake Lugano in Porlezza where you can stroll...
Read moreA very quiet hotel with a lovely breakfast, not a buffet as per photos but selection via a sheet of paper. Breakfast room is bright with a pleasant view to neighbouring houses and courtyard area. |Breakfast is plentiful and if you don't order enough one can add to the selection, including more coffee. |Room was clean and beds comfortable. Unfortunately, only shower gel provided no shampoo or conditioner. The stairs and hallway to the rooms have worn carpet due to age but still clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. |There's a restaurant downstairs snd pasta looked and smelled good but, being late at night for our one night stay we ate Insalata caprese - which was somewhat average but a good tiramisu, coffee and red wine by the glass. |Unfortunately, we stayed here rather than in locarno, thinking it was closer to lake Como, but we ended up driving back through locarno thus adding to our journey...
Read moreAll five points in this case go to the staff of this little place and the perfect meal we had in their restaurant (and it is obviously favored by locals, which added to the overall cozy flavor of it). We can highly recommend to have a dinner in hotel's restaurant - we choose osobucco with risotto Milanese and it was one of the best we had so far. And we had some. Rooms are standard, more on the small side, but the place really compensate it with its smiling and professional staff, very good breakfast (by Italian standards) and free parking just outside the hotel. It was a perfect beginning of the holiday for us. We would definitively go back, at least for one more plate of that...
