I Due Laghi — Restaurant in Casciana Terme Lari

We had been driving all day, and had forgotten to buy food for the evening. Sunday evening. I was going to starve before morning. Just 2 miles from our lodging we saw this restaurant that was open. We were saved! The waiter, Marcus, found us an outdoor table immediately. It soon became obvious that he was the life of the party and all the waitresses laughed at almost everything he did or said. We ate there four times. The lasagne was so good, that I ate it three times. The pizza was excellent. The local wine excellent. Marcus shook my hand every time we showed up. One time we started to sit down at a table without noticing that it had a reservation sign on it. As we started to move to another table, Marcus came over and moved the reservation sign. Love this place! The pizza is excellent! Came here for our wedding anniversary on August 15 and had a wonderful three course meal. We hadn’t booked but there was no fuss and a table was found for us. We made friends with the older couple at the next table. I had cacciucco for my main course. It was the best I’ve tasted. Even better than from Livorno! The panna cotta is divine. The staff are lovely and friendly. Can’t speak too highly of I Due Laghi!

Siamo arrivati e ci hanno accolto con grandi sorrisi..ci siamo accomodati in una zona un po meno affollata, affianco alla sala principale , in cui gli ospiti( tra l altro una tavoltata di ragazzini scatenati) facevano gran confusione. C'era qualche tavolo vuoto ma ci hanno fatto sedere nel tavolo al centro della stanza..posto che odio, senza possibilità di replica..siamo sicuramente partiti con il piede sbagliato! Ordiniamo ed il cameriere, alla velocità della luce e con poca attenzione, probabilmente scrive 3 secondi ( siamo solo in 2!) Ci porta un cestino con il pane che sembra chewing gum, sia alla vista che al gusto...acqua gassata e mezzo litro di vino della casa( da quelle parti il vino è buono). Si inizia con un tagliere di affettati che non è male..arriva il turno del secondo...mio marito aveva ordinato la tagliata e di solito nel piatto vengono messe poche fettine..in questo caso sembrava la ciotola di Polifemo.. mai visto una portata di quel genere (probabilmente erano 2 porzioni) la carne sembrava tirata nel piatto, non distingueva la rucola dal resto delle pietanze..al gusto non saprei..io ho preso il cinghiale in umido che non era male, apparte la polenta che lo accompagnava, sembrava di gomma...dura e fredda. Continuo a pensare che non mi vedranno più.. poi portano le patatine che avevo chiesto e con sommo stupore mi chiedo come mai, una volta raffreddate, cambiassero colore, dal verde al nero. Ovviamente le ho fatte portare via. Il caffè non era male. Arriva il momento del conto..abbiamo speso 68 euro per un tagliere di affettati a metà, una bottiglia d acqua, mezzo litro di vino della casa, un coppo di tagliata e un cinghiale in umido, 2 caffè...x la situazione e per tutto il resto mi dispiace ma non...
