A must-do when you visit Abruzzo. We were told it is the best place to eat arrosticinis. And we were NOT disappointed. They currently cost 1€/pc which isn't bad even though the whole point of this place is to cook your own meat. They also have bread, wine, drinks, cheese, cured meat... etc. A water fountain to fill your bottle. We went beginning of September (at 1pm) and had to wait 30 min for our turn. Even though you have to wait a rather long time to get your food, they have a ticket system so you don't have to wait in line and can enjoy walking around. There was no line at 4.30pm. The employees were nice and most of them speak English. They provide glasses and plates. The toilets are ok. The line can be more or less long. We noticed that some people bring their own oil/bread/cutlery/insulated bags. The view is breathtaking and worth the long trip to make it to the top. An experience you should try!

This is a message to the business managers. Update your Google and website hours if you're going to be closed. We rented a car, drove almost 2 hours up the mountain only to receive a little sign on the property that says you're closed for 2 random days. And now driving back down for 2 hours. It takes < 5 minutes to update your Google with holiday hours or on your website. Just SOMETHING! You have wasted an entire day of our trip because of your inability to care about your customers or have common business sense. I would love to come again sometime, but I don't think I ever will even chance this again. To anyone reading this: be warned, this business may randomly be closed when it says it's open. Plan backup food, or other places you want to go so you don't waste your trip too.

If you are visiting the Gran Sasso, a stop at Ristoro Mucciante is a must. This place offers a truly unique experience: you can buy fresh local products such as meat, bread, cheese, cured meats, and drinks including wine, beer, and water. What makes it special is that they provide grills where you can cook the meat yourself, along with plenty of outdoor tables to enjoy your meal in the middle of nature. The atmosphere is rustic and authentic, perfect for those who want to combine good food with the beauty of the surrounding mountains. My advice is to go early, especially on weekends and holidays, because it gets very crowded and you might have to wait quite a while before being able to buy your products and start cooking.

I love this place even though I'm a vegetarian! By the way there are food options for vegetarians too such as cheese, bread, pickled vegetables and so many sweet goods! You can also bring your own food to eat at the tables, as long as you also buy something at the shop.

The staff is very nice and friendly and the place is just stunning, we've been coming back for a few years in a row.

You can stay there for the night with a tent or a caravan, as long as you respect the place. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets, sunrises and night skies full of falling stars. If you love nature and simple life, this is a perfect place!

Cellular reception is really bad there, so it's hard to make calls and send messages; if you need to reach someone, you better do it before reaching Ristoro Mucciante.

I’ve only been there during the summer: in the weekends the place can become a bit too crowded for my taste, especially in the middle of august. The 15th of august is an Italian national holiday and usually there is an event happening there, like a concert with booths and such. During the weekdays, even in summer, is very peaceful and quiet with...
