Osteria Del Portico — Restaurant in Castel Vittorio

Following a recommendation from a good friend we have visited this fabulous osteria today, which has a fantastic view over Pigna village. Simple but extremely genuine and tasty food coming from a kitchen lovingly looked after by husband, wife and daughter! The starters are so good, I asked for a second helping of the torta di patate. The pasta dishes are one better than the other and the coniglio alla ligure is probably the best I've ever tasted! The torta di noci is to die for!! Will certainly come back next time I'm around the area!! One advice: drive from Ventimiglia upwards and not from Bajardo as the road is quite narrow and steep...

Highly recommend this family-owned restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and treated as family. The atmosphere is relaxed and feels like your seated at the family table. The traditional dishes were delicious! Every dish created by the family for generations were fresh and homemade from local ingredients. The squirrel was tender and grilled with perfect seasonings. Excellent family run restaurant in a medieval village half way up a mountain. What more can you ask for? The food is typical of the region and real home-style Ligurian cooking. The lamb had been replaced by capra con fagioli bianca (goat with white beans) and it was to die for, the wild boar with red wine and snails were also amazing.
