Solea Azienda Agricola — Restaurant in Castellammare del Golfo

My wife and I stopped in here almost by accident, it's easy to miss, we were looking for the grocery store, which is nearby. We bought a few things from the shop for our stay. The staff could not have been friendlier, we looked at the menu and returned for dinner that evening. It was simply out of this world, we shared a salad, I had buffalo and my wife had soup, all three were off the chart delicious. We also bought their red and white wine (in non-descript plastic liter bottles, that are filled from a barrel) and a liter of olive oil, also in a plain glass bottle with lever gasket top. We went back for breakfast the next day, which they really don't do officially, but they made us coffee and gave us pastries. The dining area is unique, you are surrounded by live eggplants, zucchini, and flowers, with all the smells associated with those. It's rustic, charming and inviting. I was very looking forward in visiting this place, but i cant tell how much we got dissapointed with the food. Menu has pasta only ( with different spices , around 12-15€ ) and 2 meat options, and some plate with cheese and salad… so to tell about the food pasta with pistachio is disgusting, so many pesto and person you can not eat the pasta at all..meet was 2 small slices and 10 potatoes with it that had to much rosemary , not enough even for a proper kid meal, orange juice that cost 3€ is 0.1L ( small coffee plastic glass ) becides that they are charging for 3 euroes to use their forks and knives…plates are plastic ( 1 use only ) .. ambient is nice ( but to windy ) anyway would not recommend to visit this, its...

Very good food. We wanted to find a toilet and ended up having the best food since years. The quality of ingredients in combination with Sicilian kitchen makes this restaurant our favourite on Sicily so far. Quality was better then most Xmas foods. Antipasti was fantastic, the pasta very good and the boar amazing. The house wine was also very tasty. Parent with 3 kids here...kids enjoyed the animal farm as well. Depending on the season you can see the vegetables grow next to your table. We found pepper and chili, garlic and herbs. I assume that they planted cucumbers or similar veggies a while ago - for we could see the leaves...
