The resort was in a beautiful location with stunning grounds and views. The room was clean and spacious with charming decor. The breakfast food was good with lots of different options in a lovely setting with views over the valley. There were two nice pools at the resort - however, they were overcrowded and the water was too cold to swim comfortably, despite the hot weather.
Most staff members with whom we interacted were unwelcoming, grouchy, and rude, including at registration and the restaurant/breakfast. During check in, we waited ~20 mins in the registration area without being acknowledged or welcomed and then were given a very cold and rushed introduction to the resort. Later that evening at dinner, we witnessed verbal conflicts between the maitre d' and two other tables, which made us feel uncomfortable. We personally felt that the waitstaff treated us coldly both at dinner and breakfast the following morning.
The resort advertises a nature path, so we were excited to explore that on our first morning. We went to the registration office to get directions, and again waited at least 15 mins to speak with the registration associate, who was assisting another guest. Like the day before, we were unacknowledged during this time. As soon as the associate finished up with the guest, another guest barged into the registration office and the associate assisted her instead of us. When we mentioned that we had been waiting, no acknowledgement nor apology was offered, and the associate continued to help the woman who had cut in line.
When we finally got directions to the path and set out toward it, we found it very difficult to find. The trail was poorly marked and not maintained. We overheard other guests at the pool saying that they also got lost trying to find it.
We initially planned to spend our time in Tuscany at the resort but chose to adjust our plans to avoid the negative energy. We visited 3 other cities during our trip to Italy, and of the 4 hotels where we stayed, this was the only one where we received poor customer service. While we didn't take the poor treatment personally (it seemed to be the culture among the staff), we did feel that our stay here was a blight on our honeymoon. As a side note, all 3 of the other hotels acknowledged our honeymoon and provided a small gift; nothing was said about it at Dievole...
Read moreThis is the absolute worst resort experience I have ever had. I have never written a negative review but after what we dealt with with Dievole, I feel compelled to warn others about the sheer incompetence and rudeness of the staff, as well as the false advertising the property does.
We called the property just after 8pm, informing them we would arrive in 40 minutes and that we hadn’t yet had dinner. The receptionist told us the restaurant on premises would be closed. We asked for recommendations of where else to eat and if he could assist with a booking. He refused. We wound up driving all over to look for food, and didn’t arrive to the resort until 12:30am.
The road that leads into the resort is over two miles of completely unmaintained rocks and potholes. We were lucky we rented an SUV. There’s no service on the road so watch out unless you have an all terrain vehicle as you won’t be able to get any help if you get a flat. We certainly didn’t want that as two women past midnight.
Once we checked in, we were told the luggage service people had left, and the room we got was at the upper level of the property. We wound up wheeling our own suitcases uphill a quarter mile to our room.
We booked a room with a bathtub—that’s what was advertised to us. We instead got a shower stall. When we called the reception informing them of this (it was 1;30am at this point), Andre, the guy at reception told us he would change our room. I told him that would be nice but if there were no room changes available to please let me know immediately because I was exhausted and just needed to sleep. He told me he was on the way to our room. Then he ghosted for 40 minutes, I called multiple times and nobody picked up. Then after 2am he finally called us back and told us actually he couldn’t do anything about it and too bad we were stuck with the room we had. No remorse at all.
To top it off, we asked for ice and they told us they “don’t have ice”—what kind of four star resort doesn’t have ice on property?—and I found a hair in the bedsheets.
This is an absolutely horrendous property. Don’t waste your money here—tons of great resorts in Tuscany who take accountability, have actually competent staff, and don’t treat their...
Read moreWow, what an enchanting experience we had at Dievole Wine Resort for our wedding! I can't express enough how truly magical this place is. Our May 2023 wedding was an absolute dream come true, and we are overflowing with gratitude for choosing this incredible venue.
The entire property is like something out of a fairytale. Its charm and elegance are simply mesmerizing, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for our special day. The outdoor spaces were meticulously maintained, adorned with lush greenery and the most stunning flowers, adding a touch of natural beauty to the surroundings.
The rooms were nothing short of luxurious - the definition of a 5-star resort. Impeccably appointed and incredibly comfortable, our guests were treated to a truly indulgent experience.
Seeing Dievole Wine Resort in person surpassed all our expectations. As captivating as the photos are, they don't do justice to the sheer splendor of the place. It's a sight that will stay with us forever.
The creativity and quality of the food is like that of a Michelin star restaurant. We had many guests then go on to explore other parts of Italy and Europe, and most came back to us and said the dinner served on our wedding night was the best meal of their whole trip. Big thank you to the magnificent chef, who is a gift to this place (and to our taste buds!!).
However, what truly set Dievole apart was the exceptional service and genuine kindness of the staff. From the moment our guests arrived, they were met with warmth and hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of, accommodating all our requests on our wedding day flawlessly. Even with dietary restrictions, they were incredibly mindful and considerate, making sure everyone felt special.
Our hearts are full of gratitude for the wonderful memories created at Dievole, and we can't wait to return for future anniversaries. If you're looking for the perfect wedding venue, look no further than Dievole Wine Resort. And even if you're simply seeking a relaxing and magical vacation, this place has it all. Highly, highly recommended. Dievole has our hearts, and we're forever grateful for the experience...
