I hate to leave this low rating because you could tell that they were really trying, but among the 5 dishes we tried not a single one was tasty, especially not enough to justify the current rating or price.
Let’s start with everything that was good: the wine, location and service were all excellent.
We chose this restaurant because of the stellar reviews and the photos that look great. We chose the recommended sea tasting menu. Already at the amuse bouche we realized that it would not live up to expectations: it barely had any taste. Followed by a shrimp that had a gelatin consistency that made it stick in the mouth, also lacking flavor. We thought that at least the pasta would not be a disappointment - it’s Italy after all - but they stumble by their own ambition to do something “fancy”. Filling the ravioli with fish that was completely dry from being boiled instead of cheese that surely would have been better.
To the chefs: Your effort and ambition are clear, but sometimes simplicity is the best seasoning. Perhaps it's time to drop anchor on the elaborate experiments and let your quality ingredients speak for themselves.
In the end, while we appreciate the attempt to push culinary boundaries, this meal felt like a fancy fishing expedition where we came back empty-handed. Here's hoping your next menu revision finds that perfect balance between innovation and satisfaction. Until then, we'll be reminiscing about the wine and the view - the true catches of the...
Read moreThis place truly exceeded our expectations. After spending the day at Piscina Rei, we wanted to end it with a nice fish meal. Coming straight from the beach, we definitely weren’t dressed for fine dining—but there were no judgmental looks or attitudes from the staff, which is always a good sign for me.
We were welcomed with big smiles and even helped with parking, which was a bit unclear since we weren’t resort guests. While the fish options didn’t quite appeal to us that evening—I was in the mood for a more classic fish dish with sides—we ended up switching to meat-based plates. We paired it with a good bottle of red wine and had a truly delicious meal. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared.
Although I’m not usually a dessert person, I couldn’t resist ordering the tiramisu after seeing it served a few times—and I’m so glad I did. Both our desserts were outstanding.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take photos except for the pre-dessert, but every plate was beautifully presented. The attention to detail, warm service, and excellent food made this a perfect way to...
Read moreChic club but mediocre, if not outright bad food. The lobster was covered in almond crumbs which tasted like dry bread crumbs, essentially tasteless. Suckling pig served in an unpleasantly sweet orange gel, which did not go well with the taste of the meat. We do appreciate the effort of trying to enter the space of haute cuisine, but one would expect well-balanced and tasty dishes. Sticking to simpler dishes that allow to recognize the taste of the ingredients maybe the way forward. Many reviewers have left similar comments, but have been rudely rebuffed by management. Let us stress the very friendly and professional service though. The best was the greetings from the kitchen and the wine. Based on 100+ reviewed we have provided across Trip Advisor, google and other rating platforms, we cannot understand why this place ended up with...
