Trattoria Al Campanile Duca Elisabetta — Restaurant in Cervignano del Friuli

I'm not sure where the 4.5 stars come from... We cycled here driven by great reviews. The food was just ok (very greasy), house wine without taste and smell (no option to change to a better one or to a bottled one - at least that was what we were said). From the very beginning we were treated as intruders (issue with getting our bicycles to the garden, no service inside despite dozens of mosquitos outside, no smile or positive feeling towards customers, etc.). Food was just dropped on the table one after another, very quickly to probably get rid of us as soon as possible. Desserts are just fine. Consider choosing another place for better atmosphere, service...

Questa trattoria è un luogo da favola !!! E tutte le graziose donne che, nei diversi ruoli, ti accolgono come fossi un principe azzurro sono fatine, intente a realizzare autentici incantesimi culinari !!! La casa delle fatine è uno dei più antichi e tradizionali luoghi di gradevolissima ristorazione friulana. Entrando e osservando tutto ciò che ti circonda, dal mobilio d'epoca alle foto di famiglia che sembrano darti il benvenuto da un epoca lontana, capisci che sei entrato in un mondo di sapienza alimentare che non ha uguali. Capisci che quella magia fatta di cose semplici è appena il prologo di gradevolissime sorprese che ti attendono a tavola. Intanto loro, le fatine, ti sorridono consapevoli che da lì a poco trasecolerai dal piacere che le portate daranno ai tuoi occhi e al tuo palato. Ed ecco che l'incantesimo si rivela in un susseguirsi di manicaretti che prima avevi potuto solo sognare !!! Dall'antipasto al dolce é un crescendo di colpi di scena che sazieranno ogni tua aspettativa, lasciandoti però la voglia di un prossimo, nuovo incantesimo !!!...

One of my favourite places in the area. Offers traditional dishes, sometimes with a twist, including some of the most amazing desserts I've had.
