Belvedere — Restaurant in Città Sant'Angelo

The hilltop town of Citta Sant'Angelo is worth a detour for anyone visiting Abruzzo. But if you are thinking of staying then check out the Belvedere. My wife and I were on tour this October staying in farms under the 'agriturismo' banner, but the weather took a turn for the worse and we had snow and rain. Not good to be stuck in a rural wilderness in basic accommodation.||||We had planned to visit CS'A anyway, but looked into the Belvedere on the off-chance that they had rooms. The welcome they gave already warmed us. They were refurbishing the whole place and had finished the first floor rooms. Spacious, comfortable, with fantastic views to the coast. And the heating was very efficient. ||||We could have had dinner there and the menu looked quite good with regional dishes, but we chose to eat in town - the delightful Hosteria Cavour. However, the Belvedere bar later was buzzing and a great place to wind up the night with a grappa.||||Breakfast was 'continental' - bread, jam, croissants and pastries - but with the addition of ham, cheese and fruits; and we could have added eggs.||||Pricewise a very reasonable 50 euros B&B per room per night. Paradossale che "G.D'Annunzio"aggrappi al verso di Ungaretti le mille sensazioni provate in questo incantevole luogo della sua terra,ma veniteci e sarete perdonati dal piu' grande abbruzzese di tutti i tempi.Entrate dal lato Bar,dove siede ancora qualcuno del luogo ,impegnato a capire chi potete essere,di dove iete.Proseguite e valicate un grande arco ,scostando un po il pesante tendaggio che si apre sulla sala ristorante,piena di luce,profumata del bucato delle tovaglie.Neppure gli orrendi quadri alle pareti e gli anotizzati deturpano ampi finestroni , dai quali si riversano in sala l'Adriatico,la dolcezza della campagna degradante verso il mare, unica nel suo cromatismo di verdi di ogni gradazione, infine il nobile Gran Sasso.Solo qui, in questa sala ristorante e sulla terrazza ,che e' in continuita' scenografica col locale ,potrete godere un' esperienza sensoriale straordinaria , che ,in animi deboli,puo ' raggiungere lo spessore dell'emozione, unitamente ad ottimi primi:pasta e fagioli( la piu' buona de mondo) mugnaia funghi porcini e ricotta e squisiti arrosticini ,agnello alla brace verace,guarnito di insalata e patatine fritte( ahime' surgelate, ma che ci vuole a sbucciare una patata?) infine semifreddo fatto in casa; su tutto un montepulciano sfuso: non ce la siamo sentita di ordinare una " etichetta " nella terra del Montepulciano .Una caratteristica famiglia d'Abbruzzo non ti fara' mancare tutta la sua ospitalita e capacita al prezzo piu' onesto.||la struttura presenta notevoli criticita' e andrebbe restaurata, ma l' incanto della sua collocazione rende magicamente accettabili anotizzati e scrostature dell'intonaco.Chi sa' ,tornando un giorno ,non ritroveremo il locale piu' bello d'Abbruzzo.Un ' ultima notazione.Molti anni fa venimmo in questo Paese e fermammo la macchina in zona vietata alla sosta.Sul finestrino dell' auto ,tenuta tra i tergicristalli ,non trovammo quella che aveva tutta la fastidiosa apparenza di una multa,bensi' una perla di civilta'.Un 'avviso comunale ,sul quale si poteva leggere piu' o meno: gent.le ospite hai sostato in zona vietata, ti ringraziamo di essere venuto qui e ti preghiamo , quando tornerai di sostare nel parcheggio sito .......Il Vate avra' riconosciuto i suoi veri eredi in quegli amministratori.Si dovrebbero fare ricerche per onorarli ed in loro onorare le cittadine e i cittadini che...
