Had both dinner and lunch at Il Vicolo with the entire family, 3 generations. Everyone had a great time.
The authentic restaurant is located beautifully in this Tuscany mountain village. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good. But you visit this restaurant for the wines (and perhaps the scenery)!
The sommelier had an excellent and extensive wine cellar. He was very knowledgeable, humble and professional. He knew his wines. If you would like to learn about wines and perhaps try some local products only found in the villages in Tuscany he will for sure help you out and guide you. No snobbery or arrogance, only a genuine interest in wines that he likes to share. He knows also the vineyards in the area so if you would like a recommendation for a wine tasting or similar that is "of the beaten track" he will help you with a smile.

Dining room is accessed by narrow stairs on the upper floor. (Could perhaps become a problem for wheelchairs etc. We carried our strollers for the children)

Read moreIf it's possible to have the perfect meal then it's highly likely that you'll have it here. A simple menu executed to perfection, a wine cellar stocked with Tuscan legends, knowledgeable staff and a staggering view across the Val di Chiana all combine to deliver an exceptional dining experience. We came twice during our week-long stay nearby and had a wonderful meal each time. There's a sense that the place has been run by the same family for decades and is now in the capable hands of a younger generation; focused on local, ethical produce while remaining true to the basics of Tuscan cooking. Their ragu was easily the richest I have sampled and while we were too cowardly to tackle the whopping 1.3kg of steak, the pork, lamb and chicken dishes were all sublime. To make the most of your experience I would strongly recommend that you place your trust in the chef and don't fuss over how you like your meat cooked. Just go with the flow, settle in with a great bottle of wine, savour every course and loose your thoughts in the...
Read morerecently dined at the foro restaurant and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The prices were exorbitant for the minuscule portions and low-quality ingredients that were used in the dishes. I ordered the crostini / tagliata ai porcini and was shocked at the tiny portion size that was served to me. The dish was not only overpriced, but the ingredients seemed to be of poor quality and lacked flavor. I could have easily made a better version of the dish at home for a fraction of the cOSt. Additionally, the service was lackluster and the atmosphere was unimpressive. The staff seemed disinterested and the overall ambiance of the restaurant was underwhelming. Overall, I would not recommend dining at The foro due to the high prices, small portions, and subpar ingredients. Save your money and...
