Disappointingly poor cuisine.
I visited this restaurant because of the positive reviews on Google Maps.
We ordered tortellini with meat filling in sage butter (€13), pici (long pasta) with garlic and porcini mushrooms (€12), and tagliata di manzo (sliced beef steak) with pecorino sauce and roasted potatoes (€26.50).
The tortellini were okay, but nothing special.
There were no porcini mushrooms at all in the Pici-dish. Therefore, it has not tasted hereafter. In addition, the dish was completely unsalted.
The "Tagliata di Manzo" with pecorino "sauce" were incredibly bad and a darned cheek for the price. Delivered was a steak once cut in the middle, heavily marbled, tough and not even lukewarm. In addition, although ordered medium, one part was bloody and the other one was Well-Done. Where the wide tendon was, meat would probably have been medium. In addition, the fried potatoes were missing herbs and were therefore very bland. The pecorino sauce resembled of a mayonnaise with a hint of pecorino. I would have been ashamed as a chef to send something like that out and I regret that I did not send this dish back due to my increasing feeling of hunger.
You could have gotten the food better and cheaper in highway service areas. I can therefore in no way understand the positive reviews, which were the reason for our visit, and would strongly advise against a visit, especially since this region - with the exception of this one - offers good...
Read moreHaving read the recent reviews and settling on making the trip, we were met with a string of disappointment during our visit.
We ordered the Tortelli, Steak and Beans.
The service was genuinely existent. We were offered a table outside where we faced a wall, when there were 2 other tables available already set. As we found, neither were actually booked as they seated other walk ins after us.
While the food was quick to arrive and was reasonable in taste, the steak was poorly cooked, and still with a lot of gristle. The Tortelli was quite good though.
After all this the prices were 'reasonable' had the food and service been better. But in this case, it was quite an expensive meal for something that was not really reflective of the other reviews and ratings.
I'll put it down to a tough night for the staff, or something else going on (ie more about locals than visitors). But there were plenty of other options in the township that would be deserving of your visitor dollars.
This reads as a tough review, but genuinely felt that it just wasnt the experience we had hoped for a restaurant with such...
Read moreBeing on a car trip in Italy, we wanted to let ourselves be carried away and follow the recommendations of the people we meet. That's how we arrived at this restaurant on the recommendation of the people at the accommodation.
Although at first glance the restaurant does not seem very interesting and sophisticated, we really liked the intimate atmosphere.
The staff was extremely kind and spoke to us in English (a rare thing in many places in Italy). She gave us recommendations for dishes, dessert and wine. She explained to us what they contain, the mains and why it is worth trying if we want to feel a little of the flavor of Tuscany.
And the food was excellent. I tried the beef steak raised in Tuscany, and my wife took the slow cooked beef cheeks.
The prices seemed a bit high for a not so touristy area like Florence, but it worth it because we really liked the...
