Trattoria Del Centro 2018 — Restaurant in Collegno

Nearing the end of a brutal travel day my husband asked me to find a restaurant, immediately, before everything closed. I tapped on google maps and this restaurant came up as, 1) close by 2) good reviews. It's 5 minutes off of the highway, in a very small town. We weren't sure that it was open but as we parked we heard the sounds of people happily dining. First, the service. They were packed but the smiling, friendly servers found us a table. While waiting for our entrees, the chef (& owner) came out to apologize for the delay. He was charming. We hadn't noticed a delay since we had just contentedly consumed a bucket of plump mussels in a delicious red sauce. (Other diners had mussels in a lighter broth with lemons.) The day's special was paella. It was a major hit with many diners. Most opted to pair it with a pitcher of sangria which was full fruit and obviously home made. We ordered the lobster pasta, thinking that it would be small and light. The dish arrived with a large half lobster on a bed of homemade tagliolinni. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious! The chef stopped by again to see how we were enjoying our meal. We were giddy. This meal changed us from grumpy travelers to delighted diners. We needed a lunch spot near the autostrada to meet our sons and this was easy to find and easy to park for free. Being a trattoria, there is a limited menu that can vary. We chose to sit outside in the shade and were seated right away. The owner(?) came out and explained the day's offerings, the different courses in good English. We started with a huge plank of cheeses and meats plus a local beer. We then added salads and pasta. This is not tourist food, but a place where real Italians eat and where tourists are welcome. La prima volta oggi che entriamo qui. Mai più Mi spiace ma sinceramente girando diversi posti trovo delle differenze abissali. Già l' ingresso non è stato dei migliori. L 'educazione non esiste in questo posto. Arriviamo. Una ragazza ci fa accomodare. In cucina litigano. Credo che chi ci ha fatto sedere al tavolo abbia detto a chi era in cucina di abbassare i toni. Ma nonostante questo hanno continuato sapendo che noi ci eravamo seduti al tavolo e sentivamo. Veramente indice di poca educazione. Non si fa cosi. Spero la titolare li abbia ripresi, perché bisogna avere riguardo per i clienti soprattutto con chi entra per la prima volta. Noi siamo abituati a camerieri accoglienti. Invece si capiva che loro volevano solo sbrigarsi. Non è inesperienza perché sono giovani. Mi spiace non ci sanno propio fare. Concordo pienamente con chi dice che il mangiare non è il massimo. Comunque mi rivolgo ai camerieri. Credetemi ragazzi. L educazione è importante. È inutile che fate i sorrisi di finta accoglienza, di circostanza, quando poi urlate ad alta voce in cucina e chi si siede li per la prima volta deve sentire loro che litigano. Non ce una bella atmosfera. Se io vado a mangiare fuori, vorrei rilassarmi. Pessimo bigliettino da visita. A mai più. Veramente pessimi. Era la prima volta. Non sapevamo che era chiuso. Tanto è vero che gentilmente abbiamo chiesto che se era presto non saremmo entrati. E cosa vuol dire solo perché un cliente entra prima siete giustificati a urlare essendo a conoscenza che ci sono dei clienti seduti. Scusate sono abituata a modi gentili ed educati.
