This is an amazing place to both eat and stay. The location is great, amongst fields and farmland and very rural. The rooms are spacious and functional, nothing fancy but everything you need to have a very comfortable stay. The rooms are air-conditioned, I found the bed exceptionally comfortable, there's plenty of storage (large wardrobe etc) there's a fridge in the room (very useful to chill water etc). Bathroom is fine for size, bidet, basin and a decent shower. More than enough towels, various sizes! Breakfast is a nice blend of self-service for most of the breads, cheeses, flans and suchlike, with helpful and friendly staff to sort out the great coffees or teas. We ate one evening meal during our stay. The food was excellent, masses of choice, with local specialities. Amongst our group we had a few vegetarians and a vegan, they were very well catered for. We had a very memorable meal, initially outside and then indoors once the breeze had built up in strength! I'd make a special mention of the chef and owner, and all the really pleasant waiting staff. They made it a great experience, despite being a very busy Saturday evening. Altogether the food was fantastic, everyone in our group agreed. As for value, exceptionally good value for money. I'd recommend this place very highly, and if back in the area I'd definitely stay again.

What a delightful and delicious evening at Locanda Corte Ruspeccio in Quattro Castella! The warm, lovely restaurant was full of what seemed to be all locals - always a good sign - and it had a great energy with everyone, staff and clientele alike, all smiles! Our dinners were outstanding, and particularly beautifully and creatively presented! When we finished our delicious dinners, Nello, the chef/owner, was kind enough to order us a cab to take us back to our hotel. While we waited outside in the lovely courtyard we were served shots of limoncello. After waiting more than 30 minutes for the cab that was evidently not coming, Nello came outside and told us that HE would drive us back to our hotel!! And, because there were four of us, he drove us in a larger car that he borrowed from one of his staff!! :) Talk about outstanding, over the top customer service!! Thank you Nello and staff for an evening we will long remember!!

Flawless meal in a warm, classy, unfussy environment. Surprisingly lively on a Sunday night with parties large and small. Extremely kind and enthusiastic staff gracefully suffered through us practicing our Italian and spoke beautiful, unprompted English. Food comes out quickly, but the meal was paced very well and we were not at all hurried. We ordered cured meats, two pasta dishes, braised pork shank, Lambrusco. Only regret was no room for dessert. Highlight was cappellacci filled with branzino, an unusual and exciting combination for the American palate, delicate and tastefully seasoned. I suspect one cannot go wrong here when ordering. Prices very reasonable.

I was really disappointed by our experience at Locanda Corte Ruspecchio. We chose it for our final dinner in Italy, hoping it would be the perfect way to end our 10-day trip. While the food itself was delicious, the location of our table—right on the edge of the patio next to the farm fields—ended up making the experience extremely uncomfortable.

As soon as our food arrived, we were swarmed by fleas. I had to step away from the table with our 6-month-old baby, and my husband received several bites. We ultimately asked to have the rest of our meal packed to go.

What made the situation more frustrating was that there were several open tables farther from the fields, and it didn’t seem like those guests were affected in the same way. I wish we had been offered the chance to move. While the staff was apologetic, they also seemed a bit frustrated by our decision to leave early.

It’s a shame, because the setting and food had so much potential to make it a special meal. Unfortunately, the experience left us disappointed on what was meant to be a...
