On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, me, my wife, daughter, and son-in-law took three lifts to the top of the Paganella for a day of sight seeing and some hiking. La Roda, is the restaurant at the top where we had lunch.
The good: This restaurant is at the top of a mountain with spectacular views. The bad: Prices were high and the food just ok and the portions were small. My wife had a prosecco that was below standard. The service at this restaurant is quite simply, atrocious. The servers paid little attention to us, one was abrupt, and another when I asked him a question he ignored me. Walking out of the crowded restaurant and down the steps with a tray of food, a server tried to pass me while entering instead of waiting. The place is so crowded you need to wait length periods to order food from the grill and inside. Two terraces are used for service while the third is self-serve. Because the first two terraces with services were so crowded with long wait times for seating, we chose the third terrace. There, used trays with plates and glasses were not removed for an hour after our arrival and the tables were never cleaned once a server cleared the tables. The service simply sucks!
Better to bring your own food, sit on the third terrace, enjoy the scenery, and avoid the poor service, mediocre food and drinks, long...
Read moreNot too bad, I'm sure many can enjoy the place, but we have been disappointed. My friend has ordered a meat platter, hasn't been asked how he wants his beef steak done and, after some confusions in service, when we have received other guests' drinks first and meals afterwards, our order took very long and my friend has later got his steak completely rare. When he asked for fixing the situation, as he hasn't ordered a rare steak, the staff tried to convince him, that well done would have been too dry and couldn't understand, that there's a wide range between rare and well done. He got a replacement steak afterwards, which was a nice gesture, but it was in a very inconsistent state with juisec leaking. Probably due to the rush of the preparation, although we haven't complained about time at all, as we have had plenty of time. We have tried to discuss it, but were misunderstood and lectured about dryness of we'll done...
Read moreA great place for skiing or snowboarding, with small and easy slopes, but the place itself is very picturesque, and there are many cozy cafes with delicious food. There are many southern slopes, so after lunch, there are already many bumps and pits. I have been there several times and have always been satisfied, I will definitely come back here next year. I stayed in the nearby town of Molveno, and the buses run almost every hour. Be sure to check the schedule in advance. People are very friendly, and the service is decent. The lifts are not new, but the queues are...
