The Capanna Cervino was born in the 1930s thanks to an innovative idea of a "ski school" by the local tourism pioneer Afredo Paluselli. Alpine guide and great lover of the Dolomites, Alfredo Paluselli, after having identified the place where to organize his ski school, the first ski school in the Dolomites, began to prepare in his laboratory in Ziano di Fiemme, the pieces that would give life to the Capanna Cervino, one of the first examples of prefabricated buildings. The name was chosen in honor of Cimon della Pala, nicknamed the "Matterhorn of the Dolomites". Thus, in 1931, the Capanna Cervino was born. Alfredo Paluselli, guided by his innovative spirit, began to offer his guests the first "holiday packages" including ski lessons, accommodation and food, transport from Paneveggio to Passo Rolle with private cars, establishing a sort of shuttle service, after having designed and created two ski slopes that from Passo Rolle through the forest of violins, reached Paneveggio. Here, customers could rest by having a tea in the hotel managed by Alfredo himself and then going back up to Passo Rolle. Customers, especially foreigners (Germans and English), were arriving in ever greater numbers and the Capanna Cervino gradually expanded its spaces to satisfy the ever-increasing number of tourists. Then came the war and post-war years where tourism was only a distant memory. Alfredo Paluselli in 1946 was forced to sell the Capanna Cervino to Mr. Dagostin of Cavalese, a timber merchant who gave it to Alfredo's brother, Giovanni Pauselli, who over time managed to redeem the property and manage it until the 1990s . In 1996 the Capanna Cervino was purchased by the Mich family from Predazzo. "Our commitment is to transmit the passion and values that our ancestors have handed down to us." During our Sella Ronda ski safari week we decided to ski for a day in Passo Rolle because we wanted some peace amd quiet from nearby bustling ski reaort in Dolomiti. While skking on the two perfectly groomed slopes we find a hidden gemof Capanna Cervinorestaurant. It has nice terasse with few tables and some sun loungers in front. It offers reasonably priced good we tried dumplings with variety of mushrooms and it was very tasty. They make excellent bombardino which is perfect for enyojing in beautiful panorama of surrounding Dolomiti.The lady working was polite, quick and efficient...

We had a fantastic Saturday pranzo al fresco in mid-January. It was so sunny and pleasant that I even took off all my outer trekking gear. It takes a bit to walk up a snowy hill for a kilometer but the reward was the place, food, and service. It was just like you see in the movies. A dream. I had the typical regional canederli with beef and goulash that were just divine. The house wine 🍷 was splendid. The service was attentive and the prices were very reasonable. Make the effort to get there and look at those majestic mountains towering over the locale! Super recommended!!!

The hut is in a great location, there are great views from pretty much any window and the amenities are nice and new (except the hair dryer that only blows cold air). However, compared to other refugios in the area, it was ridiculously overpriced for the service that we received. The food was mediocre at best, portions were small and in the end the dinner that was included in the half board ended up being more expensive than ordering all of the same dishes a la carte. The staff were mostly either confused or just plain ignored us.

Capanno Cervino, mi è entrato nel cuore questo rifugio. La sensazione emozionale che ho provato in questo posto, è stata al di sopra delle aspettative. La location è di una bellezza disarmante, ti lascia senza parole. Ho avuto la fortuna di vedere un tramonto, un’alba e un cielo stellato meravigliosi.La struttura rinnovata, recentemente , camera praticamente nuova , grande confortevole , accogliente, curate sotto ogni aspetto, nella sua semplicità. Bel gioco di luci sia in camera che in bagno, creano un atmosfera molto gradevole. Molto grazioso il bagno, con ampia doccia. La nostra stanza ,con finestre disposte in modo da avere la visuale mozzafiato delle Pale di San Martino e tutto il panorama che offre il comprensorio di Passo Rolle. Personale stupendo ,la signora Elena gentilissima e disponibile , ci ha veramente coccolati.Ho conosciuto anche il figlio Michele Doliana, che oltre preparare ottimi piatti della cucina locale e’ un bravissimo fotografo naturalista.Ho potuto ammirare i suoi meravigliosi scatti in un libro fotografico , al rifugio. Sicuramente sarà una meta fissa , questo posto!

Capanno Cervino, mi è entrato nel cuore questo rifugio. La sensazione emozionale che ho provato in questo posto, è stata al di sopra delle aspettative. La location è di una bellezza disarmante, ti lascia senza parole. Ho avuto la fortuna di vedere un tramonto, un’alba e un cielo stellato meravigliosi.La struttura rinnovata, recentemente , camera praticamente nuova , grande confortevole , accogliente, curate sotto ogni aspetto, nella sua semplicità. Bel gioco di luci sia in camera che in bagno, creano un atmosfera molto gradevole. Molto grazioso il bagno, con ampia doccia. La nostra stanza ,con finestre disposte in modo da avere la visuale mozzafiato delle Pale di San Martino e tutto il panorama che offre il comprensorio di Passo Rolle. Personale stupendo ,la signora Elena gentilissima e disponibile , ci ha veramente coccolati.Ho conosciuto anche il figlio Michele Doliana, che oltre preparare ottimi piatti della cucina locale e’ un bravissimo fotografo naturalista.Ho potuto ammirare i suoi meravigliosi scatti in un libro fotografico , al rifugio.
