Hotel Tambò — Restaurant in Comunità montana della Valchiavenna

We are a family of 4 (kids aged 10 and 12) from London who have just had a great week of skiing in Motta and Madesimo with another family of 4. We stayed at Hotel Tambo and highly recommend it. The location is excellent for ski in/out. We were in the split level family rooms which were spacious with a good layout. The food was great and Paolo and the whole family were friendly and helpful with dietary requirements, advise on walks, ski hire, ski school etc. The kids also liked sledging in the evenings (sledges borrowed from the local ski rental shop).||||The skiing was excellent for our requirements. There are lots of blues and reds which were a good level for our kids who had done 3 weeks skiing prior to the trip. We were there in Easter holidays including the Easter weekend. We had to queue for a couple of minutes at the most over the weekend and there were no queues at all in the week. We often had the piste to ourselves.|| ||Overall it was excellent value for money. A lovely family run albergo! Such a friendly atmosphere, we returned to this favourite of ours after a number of years. Still as comfortable as we remembered it. Right on the piste, the location is great. Rooms are very clean and warm. There are larger family rooms accommodating 4 or 5 people. Breakfast has everything you could want. Fresh croissants, fresh coffee, fresh bread and jam. Eggs cooked on request. Lunch on a sunny day out on the terrace with a bar menu of panini, hot dogs, salads, etc. Dinner in the restaurant is of a very high quality. The menu is not extensive, but the dishes are well cooked and tasty, using local produce and traditional local recipes such as Pizzocheri della Valtellina. I would highly recommend a stay here.
