We ate here in May of 2022 and forgot to leave a review! I was going back through videos while creating a travel vlog and was reminded of how incredible the entire experience was! It was the best food we had in all of Italy, and in fact, the best we had during our entire Europe road trip through 10 countries. We got the Carbonera and the steak with fries and they were divine! The wine was also excellent. All of the ingredients are locally sourced and very fresh. It's owned by a lovely husband and wife who are very charming and friendly. If you're looking for an amazing, authentic, home-cooked Italian meal, this is the perfect place. The prices are very reasonable too, especially for the quality and portions. You can't find anything like this in Como or Garda where you pay tourist prices for much less quality. If we take a trip back to northern Italy, we'll book a place next to Lago d' Idro and eat here at this restaurant every day! We drove past this restaurant up to the village of Moerna. On our way back we stopped here with two hungry kids. It was 5pm, and we walked in and asked if they were open. The owner responded that they are not, but they can make an exception and make food for us. And what food it was! The best pasta I've had in Italy, and basically all my life. The portions were huge, and we all got our stomachs full of delicious pasta. We also chatted a bit about the history of lago Idro, and enjoyed the amazing views down to the lake. We felt welcome even though we interrupted the afternoon break. Huge thanks to all of you, and I hope to see you again next time!

B&B e Ristorante situato sul lato sinistro dell'ultimissima parte della discesa che, da Capovalle, in cima alla Valvestino, scende verso il Lago d'idro....non giudico il B%B, perché Noi ( eravamo in 4..) ci siamo fermati semplicemente in pausa pranzo durante un piccolo giretto motociclistico in zona: Location dunque molto bella ed invitante, avendo la possibilità di pranzare con la sempre piacevolissima vista del Lago, che di per sé regala sempre relax e benessere; personale molto cortese ed accogliente, composto dalla coppia di proprietari, Lui, per il servzio in Sala, Olandese di origine ( da cui il nome del locale ed il fatto di essere molto frequentato dai numerosi motociclisti Orange...), Lei se ricordo bene Ucraina ( o comunque dell'Est Europa ;-p ), al lavoro in cucina; quanto proprio alla cucina, il mio consiglio, se non siete super affamati o mangioni per abitudine, è di scegliere dal menù un solo piatto, in quanto le porzioni sono davvero molto abbondanti, e soprattutto attenzione alla descrizione dei piatti, in quanto gli ingredienti più saporiti, tipo aglio e peperoncino, dove sono presenti, sono MOLTO MOLTO presenti .;-);op... prezzi più che onesti direi, pur se Noi, purtroppo, a detta del Proprietario ci siamo stati durante l'ultimo giorno di apertura prima della lunga pausa ( per Loro..) invernale, quindi diverse voci del menu' non erano più disponibili...comunque Piacevole Pit-stop

And what food it was! The best pasta I've had in Italy, and basically all my life. The portions were huge, and we all got our stomachs full of delicious pasta. We also chatted a bit about the history of lago Idro, and enjoyed the amazing views down to the lake.

Der erste Eindruck war je recht gut, darum sind wir stehengeblieben. Der zweite Eindruck: das Personal sehr nett und bemüht! Dann wurde es allerdings seltsam: Der Besitzer liess es sich nicht nehmen seine Kochkünste selbst zu loben, behauptete er mache bessere Pasta als die italienische Konkurrenz und alles frisch. Naja, mal sehen - etwas viel Eigenlob. Wärend wir warteten, hörten wir, wie er bei Gästen am Nachbartisch über sein Personal abfällig sprach und sich über die Gewohnheit der Biker zuerst Kaffe zu trinken, mokierte - dazu kein weiterer Kommentar. Auf der Karte stand übrigens, dass wenn nur eine Vorspeise bestellt wird, man 2.-€ aufzahlen muss, bzw. wenn man zur Hauptspeise einen zweiten Teller haben will, das nochmal 3.-€ kostet. Seltsam, aber so stand es geschrieben...

Die Caprese (Tomate mit Mozarella) war leider ohne Olivenöl und Basilikum dafür mit kleinstgeschnittenem grünen Salat!? Die Spagetti Carbonara waren aufgewärmte Nudeln mit einer klumpigen Eiersosse mit vielzuviel Parmesan(schon am Teller) - meine Frau hat nicht mal die Hälfte gegessen obwohl sie Hunger hatte und 2 Tage keine Pasta mehr sehen können - soviel zu den Kochkünsten.

Da ich gut Holländisch kann, fiel mir eine Tafel über der Tür auf, auf der auf Deutsch übersetzt stand: "Wer nicht als Freund kommt wird hinausgeprügelt" - da haben wir anscheinend gerade noch mal Glück gehabt!

Schön reden kann man das alles nicht, auch wenn man sich noch so...
