what a find! I think quaint is the way to describe this traditional Osteria, perhaps enchanting does it more justice, before you even step inside you feel that you have stepped back in time. Located on a back street of an antique Salo’ suburb, the pretty entrance makes you curious to get inside to discover what awaits. A number of seating areas with low arched ceilings, wooden tables, a wood panelled bar, a traditional fireplace for the cold winter nights, glass cabinets full of memorabilia; or dine ‘fuori’ on a very pretty terrace. You just know that the food is going to be good and you are not let down, the ‘Cucina Tipica’ provides you with the real taste of the region, and also a wood burning oven for fantastic pizza. The wine list is not extensive, but the quality is perfect and from a very good cantina less than 5km away. My advice is to step off the tourist track and find this restaurant; you will have a fantastic experience for a lot less than you would pay on...

We have been here on a Thursday night without reservation. We got a nice table and the service was crazy quick but very short and maybe even rude.. you have finished the last bite and the dish is taken from you. We had three courses and we have been in and out in 40 minutes.. everything a little rushed. As a starter we had the salad Gallo, which was alright. As mains the spaghetti with shrimp which was also alright and the Garganelli del Gallo, not what I would have expected but also alright. As a dessert we had the cheesecake with berries- way too sweet! So all in all a place to still sour hunger but nothing...

They saved our night! It was 11 PM when we arrived at our hotel, only to be told at reception that the only place still open was McDon*. Desperate and hungry, we did a quick search—and found that Osteria Al Gallo might still be open. We rushed over.

At first, the bartender said the kitchen was closed. But then he looked at us—tired, hungry travelers—and said, “Wait, let me ask the cook.” Five minutes later, we had two delicious pizzas in front of us. And trust me, I’ve had a lot of pizza in Italy—this was the real deal.
