Big disappointment! We came here for dinner: The first 30mins were actually quite nice, the way up to the restaurant was cool, the view was amazing and the staff was friendly. But as the serving of the food began it started to go down. Starters and main courses were served in super weird orders, some of us were already eating their main dishes while others didn’t even get their starters yet... Food quality was definitely not what we expected (salad dressings must be mixed at the table and out of plastic bags). It really feels like canteen food. But without the canteen pricing. The food was so disappointing we couldn’t even finish it. I recommend coming up here because the view is breathtaking. Don’t go to the restaurant but enjoy a Cappuccino at the bar nearby. This is without doubt the longest cable car ride I have taken. As the buckets only hold two people and some are enclosed which nobody wanted to use as it was very warm it took 20 minutes to get on the ride. I did not time the ride but it must be a least 15 minutes and takes you nearly to the top of the mountain. Views of the lake were spectacular and the was a nice cafe at the top where we had a lunch of toasted paninis and drinks. We were based in Stresa and caught the ferry to Intra and then caught the car ferry across to Laveno ( which runs every 20minutes). One of the best activity we did during the trip. Ok... it’s a lot like any chairlift in a ski resort but the fact that you’re in a kind of garbage can facing Lake Maggiore brings it up a notch!!

If you’re afraid of heights you might want to rethink your plans because the ride takes about 20 minutes. It’s very steep and some people will not enjoy it. For all the others that enjoy a bit of spark in their life this is for you!!
