The hotel is indeed, as many other people have commented, in need of maintenance. The potential is certainly there but the upkeep is quite poor. ||We had a large, superior room which is quite basic. With a little paint and some new furniture it could be so much better. It feels as if it was just left in the current state without having any work done for decades. ||The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning certainly worked very well. The bathroom was spacious but needs a good scrub. The toiletries were the cheapest possible and only had soap and shower gel. ||The breakfast had a lot of sweet pastries so if you’re trying to maintain a somewhat healthy diet, it’ll be nearly impossible. The selection was also very inconsistent so on some morning they had boiled eggs and on others they didn’t. 90% of the food available was sweet. ||The pool area is also very basic. It was, however, clean and had a bar where you can buy drinks, ice cream and lunch. We ordered two poke bowls, 15e each which were very disappointing so definitely not recommended. ||The pool is also heavily used by people who are not staying at the hotel. On the weekend, when they had a lot of external visitors, they point you a sun lounger so you are not able to choose one yourself. This was very confusing as we were the 1st ones by the pool that day. We did manage to agree on where we wanted to stay but it did feel very strange that you don’t have any say in where you want to stay by the pool. ||You get pool towels from the reception which are not changed so we had to use the same towels for three days. ||The general look and feel of the hotel is quite poor, unfortunately. There’s no consistency and everything is rusty and in need of maintenance. ||We didn’t eat at the restaurant (there are some very nice options nearby) because of our poor experience with the breakfast and...

Read moreThe hotel is located in a restructured small "castle" in a rural area between Milan an Bologna. We spent three nights there, in a standard room. I really wanted to like it, given the special location, but there were a few problems.||||Positive points: the restructuring was fantastic. The building looks amazing, the garden and pool area are very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and it was good quality. It is served in the pizzeria located on the corner side of the courtyard. You can also have dinner there and sit in the courtyard to enjoy the special atmosphere. The food is definitely very good.||||Less positive: no major problem, but we booked a normal room with view on the internal courtyard and it was quite small. Once we had checked in, we saw that they have several suites, all of which looked more enticing than our tiny room. There was minimal storage space, further reduced by the fact that a knob was missing from a night table, so that I could use only two of the three tiny drawers. Other pieces of furniture also looked rickety or damaged, such as the bizarre soap holder in the bathroom, the fake antique phone and the metal toiletries "holder" in the bathroom, from which a screw was missing.||||Electricity is activated by your room card, which means all drinks in the fridge were warmish when we arrived and we could not store anything perishable in it. Finally, check out is at the very early time of 10 am, which means you have to rush through your breakfast to be out of the hotel by 10. ||||On the whole, I was a bit disappointed, because the building and grounds look so good, but attention to details in standard rooms was minimal. Perhaps the experience can be more positive in one of the suites, at a higher price, but it will still include the insanely...
