La Perla — Restaurant in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Mind you, this was after a long hike so we were starving. The waiters kept running around with empty platters, all restaurant guests were sitting looking at one another awkwardly for almost an hour. Towards the end we were thinking about just ditching the place and eat at a gas station. When our food arrived it looked as though it was quickly slapped together, I suspect this was rather the work of the waiters trying their hand in the kitchen or a very badly trained chef (I cook 10 times better and I'm a programmer by profession).

Being so hungry we had to eat as we had to go to bed for another hike the next day (because we got our food at half past nine at night), but most of our company left half finished plates, the food was terrible. I am still confounded how one can fail with preparing a margherita pizza in Italy.

Despite this complete and utter circus they still charged us full price + an additional fee for having sat in their chairs (wawowiewa, you'd think the chairs were made of gold). They should have at least waved this fee considering we had to wait so long.

A member of our company got fed up and went back to the restaurant to complain to the staff, demanding money back (which frankly was due I feel). Their response was "mangiana" - which roughly translates to "but you ate?" - yeah genius, starving your dinner guests tends to have that effect, but is it a tactic you really want to rely on? Shame.

Frankly, we left half plates empty, hungry and nauseous.

If chef Ramsay was there he'd slap two toasts around the chefs head and have him admit to being an idiot sandwich.

We waited 25 minutes to simply get our drinks, whereas the tables around us got everything, food and drinks before us even though they came in the restaurant much after we did. Our waiter, a male waiter was extremely rude and the service was disastrous. The waiter instructed us multiple times that they only offer pizza, which was ok for us initially, although for other people that came into the restaurant after us they could order anything they wanted off the menu, which was unfair. He even threw the cutlery as us instead of placing them. The waiter had to also come take our order again after roughly 15 minutes of initially taking our order. The food was also not good. I think we were a bit unlucky with our waiter here… i havent had such a terrible service experience in a while, which is a shame considering the 3 euro coperto charge. Pizzas ranged from bad to mediocre, photos are attached. They were quite soggy from the mozzarella milk which was just pooled on the pizza itself. Waiter greeted us immediately with ‘you can order only pizza’, when later on he took the order of two men sitting next to us for pasta.
