Pizzeria Porto Rotondo cortina — Restaurant in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Very good pizza. Very expensive drinks (5 euro for 2 dcl beer is a rip off, 3 euro per person for service - come on). And for this money - if you order a Cocacola, you get in a can like in kiosk on the road and with a glass full of ice. Staff is friendly, they clean tables, glases and other things very fast. But the guests atmosphere isn't so good. Very narrow seats (even if the restoran wasn't fully occupied, we were set very close to other guest - hard to seat), the place is quite dark ... We visit the restorant the first day when we came to Cortina. Because the pizza was excelent and staff friendly, we want to came there quite often. We are Chinese and had our dinner at c. 8pm 29th Aug 2024. The food was really good, tbh. However, the moment we entered the restaurant, the waiter said Hi in Korean to us, and we corrected him that we are Chinese, he didn’t respond to us on this at all. Another waiter served our drink later and spoke Korean to us again…

Apparently, we never speak Italian to any random people that we met in Europe outside Italy without asking.

The first waiter’s attitude and tone afterwards made us uncomfortable during the whole dinner. Such as: what do you want me to do??? (For your background, there was a fly in our water.)

In the end, they forgot the Tiramisu that we ordered.

What can I say, best meal we had in the area. Our only mistake is that we did not make a reservation so we walked in and they literally found space for a table and 2 chairs. I’m sure this was an inconvenience to the waiter but I’m very happy they could accommodate.

On to the food. Reasonable costs and wide variety with everything looking good as it came out of the kitchen. The stand out dish for us was the lasagna ragu which was life-changing and is the new benchmark for all lasagna in the future.

Bill came in at €70 for a bottle of Prosecco, pizza, lasagna and water which is reasonable in my book, especially against prices where I live
